Summary
A compact external vacuum sealer with measured 25.1 inHg suction, a double-seal bar, built-in bag roll storage with a cutter, and an accessory port for jars and containers. Check the warranty before you buy: one Anova listing claims five years, but the manufacturer page and Wirecutter both say two.
Strengths
- Measured suction of 25.1 inHg sits near the top of home sealers.
- Seals held on berries and ground beef after six months in the freezer, walnuts after nine.
- Built-in bag roll storage and cutter stay compact, smaller than most sealers with the same features.
- One-hand operation, moist/dry modes and the pulse control draw steady praise from owners.
- The accessory port adds versatility for jars and containers.
- A Wirecutter staffer has used the Pro since July 2022 without issues.
Weaknesses
- No removable drip tray, so liquid in the vacuum channel gets wiped out with paper towels.
- Loud at 83 dBA, about the level of a vacuum cleaner.
- No cancel button, so you lift the handle to stop the vacuum.
- Some owner reviews report units that never switch to sealing mode or leave air in the bag.
- Replacement parts are not listed; Anova’s parts page shows no products for the Pro.
- The cutter and roll sit inside the machine, so you cannot prep the next bag while sealing.

Sealing performance
Wirecutter measures this sealer’s vacuum strength at 25.1 inHg, near the ceiling for home models; commercial sealers reach about 29 inHg. In long-term freezer tests, bags of raspberries and ground beef held their seals after six months, and walnuts held after nine. Bags of frozen water heated to 190 °F for ten minutes in a sous vide bath all stayed sealed. Anova publishes a 12 L/min extraction rate, but that is a flow figure, not a vacuum-depth rating, so it is not directly comparable to the inHg measurement.
Controls, noise and upkeep
Controls are simple: moist and dry modes, pulse vacuum, seal-only and the accessory port. Opening and closing takes little force, and the one-hand operation works as advertised. The catch is noise: 83 dBA at peak, comparable to a vacuum cleaner and in line with the other sealers Wirecutter tested, which ran 73–84 dBA. There is no removable drip tray, so any liquid that reaches the vacuum channel is a paper-towel job. Don’t lock the lid when the unit is idle, and pause for up to a minute between seals to avoid overheating. Moist mode lowers the pressure for juicy foods, but no external sealer can seal true liquids.
Warranty, parts and what owners say
The manufacturer page and Wirecutter both put the warranty at two years, not the five years one Anova listing claims. Cleaning and bags are the running costs; there is no consumable lock-in beyond bags, and accessory-port attachments are sold separately. Anova’s replacement-parts page lists nothing for this model, a real gap at the price. On Anova’s community forum, one owner reports about four years of frequent use and still being pleased with the Pro; a Wirecutter staffer has used theirs since July 2022 with no problems, and bags sealed in 2019 were still intact. The caution signals are company-level: forum threads about slow support and a warranty claim denied with no explanation mostly concern other Anova products, and owner reviews mention unreturned emails and shipping that runs past the stated estimate. Nobody has published a sealer-specific failure rate, so treat the sealing-mode complaints as a known minority annoyance rather than a defect.
Is it worth it?
At $114 on sale on Anova’s site against a $155 regular price, this is strong value: top-pick suction, a double seal, built-in storage and a two-year warranty. Near the full price the case weakens, and it is worth comparing against the Nesco VS-12 at $134 and the base Anova ANVS01 at $66, which is smaller but less powerful.
