Summary
A 350 W two-speed immersion blender for soups, smoothies and sauces that comes close to Braun’s pricier MultiQuick 7 in independent testing. Check the wattage on the box before you buy: the marketplace listing says 300 W, while Braun’s own page and TechGearLab both confirm 350 W.
Strengths
- Pureed soups and smoothies nearly as well as the pricier MultiQuick 7 in Wirecutter’s 2026 test.
- Whipped cream and mayonnaise in under a minute in the same test.
- TechGearLab scored it 85/100, with a 9.0/10 blending score and smoothies with no chunks.
- Three-year limited warranty, well past the one or two years most brands offer.
- Whisk and beaker included; attachments swap with the EasyClick system.
- Ergonomic handle — TechGearLab scored ease of use 8.0/10.
Weaknesses
- You hold a button down the whole time; Wirecutter found this tiring next to the MultiQuick 7’s trigger grip.
- No chopper cup in the box — Braun sells its 2-cup chopper separately for $34.95 (2026).
- Only two attachments included; TechGearLab scored accessories 7.0/10.
- The textured grip holds onto lint and dust, per TechGearLab.
- No owner-forum data exists, so long-term reliability is unknown.

What the independent tests found
Wirecutter’s 2026 guide ran the MQ505 through soups and smoothies and found it nearly as good as the more expensive MultiQuick 7, whipped cream and mayonnaise in under a minute, and recommended it as the Braun “if you want Braun quality at a lower price”. TechGearLab tested this exact model in December 2024, gave it 85/100 and a 9.0/10 blending score — smoothies with no chunks, hemp seeds pulverised, minimal suction against the beaker — and praised its ergonomics and easy attachment changes. Neither machine has ActiveBlade; that is MultiQuick 7 technology. YourBestDigs’ 2022 guide tested the MultiQuick 9, not this model, so treat its findings as context: wattage is not critical to performance, and two speeds are plenty.
Ergonomics and daily use
The MQ505 runs off a button you press with one fingertip and hold for the entire blend. Wirecutter found that tiring compared with the MultiQuick 7’s trigger-style variable speed. TechGearLab still scored ease of use 8.0/10 and called the handle ergonomic, but noted the textured grip tends to hold onto lint and dust. Two speeds plus a turbo boost cover most kitchen jobs.
Accessories and running costs
The box holds the blender, the MQ 10 whisk and a beaker — nothing else. There is no chopper cup. Braun’s US store (2026) sells the attachments this model lacks through the EasyClick system: a 2-cup chopper (MQS230BK) for $34.95, a grinder (MQS270SI) for $29.95, a masher (MQS300BK) and a jug blender (MQS601BK) for $49.95. Braun also runs a spare parts portal and hosts the instruction manuals for the line. There are no consumables, filters or subscriptions; running costs stop at the attachments you choose to add.
Is it worth it?
At Braun’s US list price of $79.99 (2026), the MQ505 sits well below the MultiQuick 7 at $109.95 while coming close to it in Wirecutter’s blending tests, and its 3-year warranty outlasts most brands. The $69.95 variants (MQ50001M, MQ55307M) are stronger value still, but the $89.95 MQ50202M and the $99.95 MultiQuick 5 Vario (MQ5027) move closer to MultiQuick 7 money. If you want ActiveBlade technology and a trigger grip, pay for the MQ7. If you blend in short bursts and want Braun quality for less, the MQ505 is the one to buy.
Which model this is
This page covers the MultiQuick 5 variant MQ505 — the 350 W, two-speed version sold in the US as MQ505CREAMBK — the model behind Amazon listing ASIN B01EA5ZI2U. Braun sells other MultiQuick 5 variants (MQ50001M, MQ50202M, MQ55307M, MQ5027, MQ5064) with different features, plus the more powerful MultiQuick 7 and 9; the listing wattage conflict (300 W vs 350 W) means you should confirm the exact model number on the unit before buying.
