Summary

The CASABREWS ULTRA is a 1350 W semi-automatic espresso machine with an LCD panel, a manual steam wand and four selectable brew temperatures. The real feature is the temperature control, not the 20-bar pump rating, which is a maximum rather than a puck-pressure figure.

Strengths

  • Four discrete brew temperatures (194/197/201/204 °F) are a real advantage over single-temperature machines in this class.
  • A 2.2 L / 73 oz tank is large for the class and cuts refill trips.
  • Four baskets ship in the box, split single-wall and dual-wall.
  • Programmable one- and two-cup volumes with an LCD shot timer.
  • A guided descale cycle and a descale alert are built in.
  • A minimum 12-month warranty covers material and workmanship defects.

Weaknesses

  • The 20-bar figure is a pump maximum, not extraction pressure at the puck.
  • Warm-up is about 1 minute, not the seconds implied by the newer ULTRA PRO’s marketing.
  • The machine is not user-serviceable; the manual forbids opening it and routes internal maintenance to support.
  • No independent instrumented test and no substantive owner-review corpus were found.
  • No dishwasher-safe parts, and distilled or heavily filtered water must not be used.
  • Portafilter diameter is 58 mm per three sources outside the manual, but the manual itself does not state it.

Temperature control and the 20-bar claim

The four-step brew-temperature control is the genuine differentiator, documented in the factory manual at 194 °F, 197 °F, 201 °F and 204 °F. It is selected by holding the hot-water button for five seconds, choosing with the cup and steam buttons, then confirming with power. Most machines in this class offer one fixed brew temperature, so this is a verifiable advantage rather than a marketing line. One third-party round-up describes the machine as having PID temperature control, but the manual documents four discrete setpoints and never uses the term, so PID should not be published as a verified specification.

Two headline claims need deflating. First, 20 bar is a pump maximum, not extraction pressure at the puck; CASABREWS says exactly that on the sibling ULTRA PRO, and the ULTRA manual publishes no pressure figure at all. Second, this machine does not heat in five seconds. The manual states roughly one minute to standby, and the five-second heat-up claim belongs to the newer ULTRA PRO, which is a different wattage, interface and descale cycle. Buyers comparing listings should treat Ultra and Ultra Pro as different machines.

Milk, water and cleaning

The milk side is a manual steam wand, not an automatic frother, and hot water comes out of the same wand. CASABREWS’ own buying guide describes the Ultra’s wand as commercial-grade and single-hole and claims exceptional steam pressure from bench testing, but that is first-party marketing with no numbers attached, and no independent test of this exact model was found. If the wand is single-hole, expect easier control of microfoam but a real clogging risk with milk residue; the manual supplies a cleaning needle and a soak procedure for the steam nozzle. Exiting steam mode intentionally pumps water and vents steam from the drip tray, which the manual states is normal, so do not misread it as a fault.

Routine care is documented in the manual: wipe the brew head and shower screen after use, rinse the filters and portafilter and unblock them with the needle, clean the steam wand after every frothing, and descale on the LCD alert after the machine has cooled for an hour. All removable parts are hand-wash only and the dishwasher is prohibited. The manual says to use cold tap water and not distilled, demineralized or heavily filtered water.

Repairability and evidence

Repairability is the practical weakness. The manual forbids opening or servicing the machine and routes all internal maintenance to CASABREWS support, and the troubleshooting table’s remedy for water leaking from the bottom is only reseating the tank or replacing a broken tank. No user-replaceable pump, boiler or control board is documented, and no separate parts catalog for the ULTRA was found. Warranty exclusions cover normal wear, incorrect use or non-approved accessories, force or external damage, non-observance of the manual, and partially or completely dismantled appliances. No instrumented independent test of the exact ULTRA was found, so the steam and extraction claims rest on first-party statements alone.

Which model this is

This page covers the CASABREWS ULTRA, the model printed in the factory instruction manual and listed as the ULTRA Espresso Machine with LCD Screen and Milk Frother Steam Wand. The listing this page covers is ASIN B0D53126XJ. Do not merge it with the newer ULTRA PRO, which has different hardware and numbers: 1550 W, a knob-plus-LED interface, a 3-hole steam wand, a 5-second heat-up, a cold-brew function and a 25-minute descale cycle. Also do not merge it with the CM5418/BASIC, 3700-series, 5418PRO, 5700Pro or MARENZA models, which are separate machines.
