Creality Space Pi: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-05

Summary

The Space Pi is a heated box with a fan, not a dehumidifier: it has no moisture exhaust, its humidity readout is documented as false because the sensor sits in the direct hot-air stream, and owners report the chamber figure stalling at 13-15% RH and not holding once heating stops. The running cost is desiccant plus electricity at a 145 W rated input power, with no cartridge or subscription, and it is a good buy at or below $70 if you open one spool at a time and print promptly after drying. Above $90 a single-spool box with a 70 °C ceiling is weak value, and the 70 °C ceiling means nylon and PAHT-CF never reach their recommended drying temperature on this unit.

Common problems and fixes

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

There is no cartridge, filter or subscription. The consumable is desiccant for the two pockets, replaced on an interval no owner has reported, and the research records no price for it. Electricity comes from the 145 W rated input power; owner consensus is 4-8 hours at 50 °C for PLA and variants and 2-4 hours at 60 °C for PETG per drying job, while one heavy user runs the unit 100+ hours a week. Multiply those hours by 145 W for your own utility rate — the research contains no utility rate, so the electricity figure cannot be stated here. One owner runs the dryer for only an hour before printing, which is the cheapest end of the range. [19] [10] [9]

When it is a good buy

Outside-store US pricing in October 2026: Creality’s own store at $66.00, marked down from $69.99; Creality MVIP store at $69.00; B&H Photo at $65.00. Creality’s own blog is internally inconsistent, listing $62 to $75 in its spec block and $59 in the body, and the $90-100 street figure in one enthusiast review is unsupported by any retailer page, so treat it as unreliable.
