Summary
A 16x16 pixel-art Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a bedside clock, alarm and notification display. It is a desk companion first and a speaker second, and most features run through the Divoom Smart app, so check that app dependence before you buy.
Strengths
- The pixel-art display and community art gallery are the core appeal, not the audio.
- A large app feature set: clock, weather, notifications, games, DJ mixer, scoreboard, stopwatch, noise meter and radio.
- Compact, solid build with matte rubberized sides and a screen protector over the panel.
- Volume exceeds expectations for its size, with some bass depth for background listening.
- Sleep-aid sounds and the alarm make it useful on a nightstand.
- Portable enough to carry around the house and outdoors in place of larger speakers.
Weaknesses
- The speaker sits on the back, so it faces away from the person looking at the pixel display.
- Two reviewers call the sound “decent, not really premium” and “not really loud”.
- Most functions need the Divoom Smart app and an account.
- One owner reported repeated app install, removal and reinstall without ever fixing the connection.
- Another owner’s unit froze and needed a hard reset.
- The 16x16 canvas is the most common owner complaint, and the battery is not user-replaceable.

Full research notes and sources
Pixel-art display and app
The 16x16 RGB LED panel is the product: you draw or download pixel art, run clocks and weather, get social notifications, play mini games and use sleep-aid sounds through the Divoom Smart app. It is best suited to bold icons and short animations at close range; detailed text is not its strength. The app library is large and responsive, and the drawing tool supports 35+ animation frames on GBAtemp’s count.
Sound and battery life
The 6W driver is fine for bedside, office and background listening, and both independent reviewers note the sound is decent rather than premium. Rotate the unit if you want the rear-firing speaker pointed at you. Battery life landed around 6 hours with music and animation in two hands-on reviews, matching Divoom’s up-to-6-hours claim, and the unit can run while plugged in.
App problems, freeze and warranty
The app is where most of the value lives, and also the main risk. One owner could not get a stable app connection despite repeated reinstalls, and another needed to hold the volume buttons for 10-20 s to factory reset after a freeze. These are anecdotal signals, not defect rates. Divoom’s warranty page states a one-year limited warranty, with exchange possible within one month for units that fail without external damage; a current store bundle page advertises a longer term, so use one year for the standalone unit unless your particular order grants more.
Which model this is
This page covers the Divoom Timebox-Evo, the 4th generation of Divoom’s pixel-art speaker line, EAN 6958444602424 and UPC 840500101766. The Amazon listing for this model is ASIN B07H7L1PLD. Do not confuse it with the older Timebox and Timebox-Mini, the display-only Pixoo, or the differently shaped Ditoo Pro.
Is it worth it?
At Divoom’s own store the Timebox-Evo lists at $54.99 (divoom-gz.com, 2026), and a European reseller lists it at 99 EUR (OpenELAB, 2026). Historically, GoGeek noted €49.90 in 2020 and GBAtemp’s 2019 reviewer called $49.99 reasonable. For a personalized desk or bedside display with background audio it is fairly priced; the case is weakest for a buyer whose priority is audio, and above roughly $75-80 it weakens further because the hardware is unchanged since 2019 while the same money buys better conventional speakers. Recurring costs are limited to electricity, with no subscription found for the core features.
