Summary
A hybrid baby monitor that pairs a 4K pan-tilt camera with a 5-inch parent display and can run entirely without Wi-Fi or a subscription. Check whether you want breathing or health monitoring, because the E21 does not include it.
Strengths
- The 4K feed and 8× zoom show fine detail, down to finger movement.
- A physical switch on the camera cuts Wi-Fi for monitor-only use.
- No subscription is needed; recordings go to a microSD card.
- Good Housekeeping’s hands-on reviewer praised the sharpness, night vision and travel-friendly size.
- The charging base keeps the parent display running for up to 12 hours.
Weaknesses
- The parent display is 720p, not 4K; only the camera feed is 4K.
- There is no breathing or health monitoring and no Alexa or Google Home integration.
- The pan-tilt motor is audible when it moves.
- The microSD card for local recording is not included.
- The 800 ft range is a manufacturer claim for open space, so walls will cut it.
- No instrumented test from RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag was found.

Video, zoom and night vision
Good Housekeeping’s review is the strongest independent evaluation found, and it is hands-on: reviewer Olivia Lipski, a mother of a 13-month-old, tested the E21 at home and while traveling over the past year for the 2025 Parenting Awards. The E21 won a Good Housekeeping Parenting Award. She called the 4K picture “exceptionally crisp, clear” and “some of the sharpest I’ve ever seen on a baby monitor,” and said the 8× zoom was impressive enough to see finger movement. Night vision, she wrote, is “just as effective” as daytime. Parent testers in the program praised the clarity, the close zoom, the wide lens and the night mode.
One clarification the listings bury: the 4K applies to the camera feed only. The parent display is 5-inch 720p.
Wi-Fi, privacy and the app
The E21 is a hybrid. You can watch on the parent monitor with the camera’s Wi-Fi turned off, or open the app for remote viewing. The Wi-Fi switch is physical and sits on the camera; when it is off, the camera talks only to the monitor and not to the app. One parent tester put it simply: “I love having a physical monitor and app options.” Video is encrypted with RSA-1024 and AES-128, and up to 5 family members can share the app. There is no subscription: local clips go to a microSD card of up to 128GB, which you supply.
Battery, charging and setup
The camera carries a 5,000mAh battery and runs about 9 hours normally, or about 5.5 hours with night vision on. The display’s own 5,000mAh battery lasts up to 12 hours on the included charging base. A cradle stand and a wall mount are both in the box, and Good Housekeeping noted the mount is smaller and easier to pack than the bulky stands on competing monitors. Setup is quick: one tester said they were using it within minutes of opening the box. The camera is palm-sized and portable. The microSD card is not included, so add one if you want local recording.
Is it worth it?
At $200–$260 the E21 sits in the mid-range. It earns its place if you want 4K video, a local-only privacy option and no ongoing fees. eufy lists it at $259.99 (eufy, 2026), and Good Housekeeping noted a $180 price at Walmart and $260 at Target in 2025. If you need breathing or heart-rate monitoring, look at Owlet or Nanit instead. The main gap is testing: no RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag instrumented review exists yet, so long-term reliability is unproven.
Which model this is
The E21 is the higher-tier model in the E20/E21 line, launched November 4, 2024. Against the E20 it adds a 4K camera in place of 2K, 8× zoom in place of 4×, and a charging base and cradle stand. Do not merge it with the E20, the C10, the SpaceView Pro (E210) or other eufy baby monitors.
