Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A quiet, filter-free ultrasonic cool-mist humidifier with a top-fill 3.6 L tank, sized for bedrooms and small rooms up to about 161 sq ft. Before buying, know its limits: no humidity sensor or auto mode, a modest measured output of 181 mL/h, and an advertised 34-hour runtime that is a low-setting best case.

Strengths

  • Independent testing confirmed real small-room results: humidity rose 10.8 points in an hour in a 194 sq ft room.
  • Cheap to run: 17.5 W measured draw, no filter to buy, and the testers gave operating costs 9.5/10.
  • The detachable top-fill tank makes refills easy, and owners describe near-silent high mode and a fully dark sleep mode.
  • Aroma tray, seven-color light, timer and dual 360° nozzles add bedside utility.
  • A 3-year warranty with lifetime technical support is generous for a basic appliance.

Weaknesses

  • No humidity sensor, auto mode or app: you set mist output by hand and guess, so a separate hygrometer helps.
  • 181 mL/h is adequate for a bedroom but well below same-protocol rivals in the same test.
  • The 34-hour runtime claim is a low-output best case; expect about 20 hours at maximum.
  • Listing specs drift: the same ASIN has appeared as 3 L/32 h and 3.6 L/34 h, with noise claims from 16 to 23 dB.
  • Hard tap water means scale, white dust and regular descaling, and owners mention tight cleaning spots.
  • No US parts catalog: a dead atomizer or cracked tank means a warranty claim, not a repair.

Humidity performance

Air Purifier First’s controlled test of this exact model in a 194 sq ft room pushed relative humidity from 41.8% to 52.6% in 60 minutes, with +5 points in the first 16 minutes and 181 mL/h of water use at maximum. That is solid bedroom output, not high-output humidification: the same-protocol DREO HM311S managed about 206 mL/h and the OasisMist 450S about 301 mL/h. Run time on maximum came out just under 20 hours per tank.

Controls and everyday use

“Adjustable humidity” here means a mist setting, not a humidistat — the machine cannot see room humidity, so run it by timer or by feel. Sleep mode shuts the display off for a fully dark room. Essential oil goes only on the aroma pad; oil in the tank or base can damage the unit and cause leaks. The aroma pad is reusable, though one manual revision suggests replacing it around every six months.

Cleaning and water quality

Ultrasonic tanks scale. Homvana recommends clean or distilled water and regular rinsing — weekly at a minimum, every three days in some guidance — with vinegar for descaling. Owners like the supplied brush but report corners that are hard to reach. If your tap water is hard, distilled water can quietly become the biggest cost of ownership; one owner complained it cost more than the humidifier itself. Isolated leak and puddle reports exist, and official troubleshooting covers mist loss from mineral deposits, tank seating errors, scale, odd noise and the “88” shutdown code.

Which model this is

This page covers the grey Homvana H101, ASIN B09LM1588Z, EAN 6975141091191 — the 3.6 L / 34 h version the current listing and a physical test both confirm. The same ASIN has historically carried 3 L / 32 h copy, so don’t trust old screenshots, and treat the 16 dB noise claim as marketing until someone measures it. The sibling H103 and H111 are different products.

Is it worth it?

Buy it on sale for a bedroom or nursery if you want simple, quiet and cheap to run, and accept manual control. Electricity is the smallest cost of ownership: the independent test put round-the-clock operation at maximum at about $1.53 a month using $0.12/kWh. If your tap water is hard, bought distilled water can cost more over time than the humidifier itself, which one owner complained about. If you want the machine to hold a target humidity on its own, or need faster output for a bigger room, humidity-sensing models are worth the step up. Check the store panel above for current prices.
