Summary
The Honeywell HUL430W is a filter-free ultrasonic cool-mist humidifier for a medium room, with a 1.25-gallon tank that runs up to 24 hours on low. It has no humidistat and no app, so plan to watch humidity yourself and clean the tank every week.
Strengths
- GearLab measured a 27% humidity rise in one hour and scored it 86/100.
- Consumer Reports lists it for rooms up to 400 sq. ft. and recommended it at $76 (Consumer Reports via NBC 5 DFW, 2022).
- There is no filter, wick or cartridge to replace.
- Owners call it easy to fill and clean, compact and effective for a medium room.
- The 2-year limited warranty is documented on the manufacturer page, the store page, the retailer listing and the manual.
- An essential oil tray adds scent without putting oil in the tank.
Weaknesses
- There is no humidistat or smart control, so output is set by ear against a separate meter.
- Weekly cleaning is required, with descaling and disinfecting as separate 20-minute soaks.
- In hard water, white dust is likely; Honeywell recommends a distilled-and-tap mix.
- Owners report a dripping noise, a lid release that takes pressure and a mist control that may not turn below level three.
- No replacement parts, tank, nebulizer or repair service specific to the HUL430 were found.
- Over-humidifying is easy to do and causes condensation; the manual puts the ideal band at 40-60%.

Output and humidity control
GearLab measured a 27% change in humidity over one hour, near the top of the group it tested, and gave the unit an 86/100 weighted score with 9.5/10 for effectiveness. Consumer Reports classifies the HUL430B in the medium-room band, with a 400 sq. ft. claimed area, 2.1 gallons of daily output and an overnight electricity cost of $0.84 a month. What the unit does not have is any way to stop at a target. Consumer Reports lists no humidistat and no programmable function, and the manual points owners to a separate Honeywell monitor, HHM10 or H10C, that is not included. One owner pairs it with a smart plug that watches power draw and cuts the machine off when it stops misting.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning is the real ongoing cost and it is not optional. Honeywell requires weekly cleaning and separates the two jobs: descaling with 2 cups (0.5 L) of undiluted distilled white vinegar, and disinfecting with 1 teaspoon of bleach per gallon (3.8 L) of water, each with a 20-minute soak. The tank is cylindrical with no sharp internal corners and the opening measures 3.25 inches, which is why both test outlets rated cleaning highly. The nebulizer is fragile and should not be scrubbed hard, and the reservoir should be emptied from the back to keep liquid off the controls.
White dust
White dust is a water-quality problem, not a defect. Honeywell says so directly and recommends a distilled-and-tap mixture to reduce it. In hard-water areas expect residue from any ultrasonic humidifier.
Is it worth it?
At the prices seen in stores, about $74.99 at Sylvane (2026) and $82.95 to $83.78 at the two Honeywell storefronts, this is a defensible buy for a medium bedroom or living room where the owner will clean weekly and watch humidity with a separate meter. Near the $117 list price GearLab used, the missing humidistat is hard to justify when Consumer Reports lists medium-room units with app control from $49.98 to $99.99.
Which model this is
The HUL430W is the white version of the HUL430 family; the black HUL430B is the same unit. The white SKU carries manufacturer part number HUL430WV2 and UPC 328785001723. This page covers ASIN B07GRGW4W5. Wicking-filter cartridges cross-sold on the same store pages, such as HAC504PF1V2 and HAC504PF3V2, belong to filtered Honeywell models and do not fit this machine.
