Summary

A closed-back 2.4GHz and Bluetooth gaming headset with angled 53 mm drivers, a detachable boom mic and long rated battery life of up to 120 hours on 2.4GHz or 200 hours on Bluetooth. Check availability before you buy: the White/Pink finish was listed as Coming Soon on HyperX’s US store, with Black and Black-Red the stocked colours.

Strengths

  • Rated battery life of 120 hours on 2.4GHz and 200 hours on Bluetooth is class-leading.
  • Tom’s Guide praised the sound as immersive and detailed, with good positional cues in games.
  • The headset is comfortable over long sessions, per the same review.
  • The detachable boom mic was loud and clear and rejected background TV sound well.
  • A built-in backup mic keeps your voice intelligible if the boom mic is removed.
  • 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, Instant Pair and magnetic custom earcup plates add flexibility.

Weaknesses

  • The leatherette earcups get hot over long sessions, according to Tom’s Guide.
  • HyperX NGENUITY is Windows-only and offers only an equaliser and a spatial-sound toggle.
  • There is no Xbox support, unlike the wired Cloud III.
  • It pairs with only one device at a time, with no multipoint.
  • At a $179.99 US MSRP the lone independent reviewer called it expensive for what it offers.
  • White/Pink was listed as Coming Soon in the US, so that colour may be hard to find.

Battery life

HyperX rates the Cloud III S Wireless at up to 120 hours over the 2.4GHz dongle and up to 200 hours over Bluetooth, with about a five-hour charge. Tom’s Guide called it the longest battery life it had tested, ahead of the roughly 80 hours it measured on the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3 and Audeze Maxwell, 90 hours on the Asus ROG Pelta and 30 hours on the PlayStation Pulse Elite. The 200-hour figure applies to Bluetooth mode only, so do not read it as the 2.4GHz number.

Microphones

The headset ships with a detachable 10 mm unidirectional boom mic on a flexible gooseneck, and a second omnidirectional mic sits inside the headset as a backup. Tom’s Guide found the boom mic loud and clear and said it rejected background TV sound well; the built-in backup picks up more room ambience and echo but keeps the speaker understandable. HyperX’s own spec sheet lists an omnidirectional electret condenser mic, which likely describes that built-in unit rather than the boom.

Comfort, materials and software

The frame is stainless steel with aluminum forks and leatherette-covered memory-foam earcups. Tom’s Guide found the fit very comfortable over long sessions but noted the leatherette runs hot. Software is limited: HyperX NGENUITY is Windows-only and exposes only an equaliser and a spatial-sound toggle, with no lighting or mic-depth tuning. The earcups use removable magnetic plates, and HyperX sells decorative 3D-printed plates for roughly $39.99-$49.99 depending on design in select regions.

Which model this is

This page covers the Cloud III S Wireless, the 2.4GHz plus Bluetooth model announced 18 March 2025. Don’t confuse it with the older wired Cloud III in White/Pink, product 9W1Q4AA, which has no battery and no built-in mic. HyperX’s ROW store lists the Cloud III S Wireless under product code A59Z0AA. The White/Pink finish was marked Coming Soon on the US page while Black and Black-Red were stocked.

Is it worth it?

HyperX lists a US MSRP of $179.99, though HyperX’s US page showed the White/Pink finish as Coming Soon and did not confirm a US price for that colour. Tom’s Guide judged the headset expensive for what it offers at that figure and pointed to cheaper SteelSeries and Asus alternatives, while its price widget showed promotional prices of $119.99 at Best Buy and HP in May 2025. At the full MSRP the value case is weak; near the promotional level the long battery, comfort and dual mics make it far easier to justify. Until a verified US price for the White/Pink SKU exists, treat the exact street price as unresolved.
