Summary
A dual-wireless gaming headset with 53 mm angled drivers, 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.3, and 120-hour rated battery life. Check the platform list and the mic before you buy: there is no wired option, no Xbox support, and the boom mic is the weakest part.
Strengths
- Battery life is class-leading: 120 hours rated and 113 hours 27 minutes measured on 2.4 GHz.
- Dual wireless adds Bluetooth 5.3 to the 2.4 GHz connection.
- Comfortable for long sessions thanks to the padded headband and memory-foam earpads.
- Directional audio makes positional cues easy to pick out in games.
- EQ settings save to the headset, so they follow it between devices.
- Owners on Reddit rate the comfort, positional audio and battery life highly.
Weaknesses
- No wired or analog connection, no Xbox wireless support, and no simultaneous 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth audio.
- The detachable boom mic sounds thin and quiet next to rivals, and the built-in mic picks up room noise.
- Ngenuity is Windows-only and basic, and some owners report bugs.
- The leatherette earpads trap heat in long sessions.
- Draining the battery completely can leave the headset refusing to power on.
- It does not fold flat, so it is awkward to pack.

Battery, charging and wireless
HyperX rates the headset at 120 hours on 2.4 GHz and up to 200 hours over Bluetooth. SoundGuys measured 113 hours 27 minutes on 2.4 GHz in its lab, about 95% of the rated figure, at a moderate test volume. A full charge takes roughly five hours over USB-C, and there is no quick-charge option, so plan to charge it overnight.
One quirk worth knowing: completely draining the battery can leave the headset unable to power back on, a problem SoundGuys says has carried across several HyperX models. You cannot use 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth at the same time, you switch between them, and there is no wired or analog fallback when the battery is empty. Xbox is not supported; this is a PC, PlayStation and mobile headset.
Sound
The angled 53 mm drivers measure with a sub-bass lift, a mild dip around 250 Hz, a relaxed 2–3 kHz region and a mild rise around 8–10 kHz. SoundGuys scored the headset 3.9 on its Multi-Dimensional Audio Quality Score, up from 2.7 for the Cloud III Wireless. Tom’s Hardware praised the directional audio and the deep bass with clear highs and slightly restrained mids. Lagtrial found the recessed 2–3 kHz region makes dialogue a little distant, and some owners describe the sound as thin with a harsh top end until they apply EQ. DTS Headphone:X spatial audio is available through the Ngenuity software, though reviewers describe the effect as subtle to barely perceptible.
Microphone and software
The detachable 10 mm boom mic splits reviewers. Tom’s Hardware called it clear and relatively full, but Lagtrial, Headphones.com and StreamTechReviews describe it as thin, low-volume or heavily compressed, and owners on Reddit call it extremely quiet or metallic. The boom mic records at a low level even with the gain maxed out in Ngenuity, so treat it as serviceable for chat rather than a strength. The built-in MEMS mic is omni-directional and picks up more room noise; it is meant for casual calls.
Ngenuity is Windows-only and reviewers find it basic. EQ settings save to the headset itself, so they carry over between devices, but there is no parametric EQ, only fixed bands. Some owners report buggy behaviour, random power-offs and pop noises, and a few say the headset interferes with other Bluetooth peripherals such as mice and keyboards.
Is it worth it?
At $120–140 on sale it is strong value: the battery life, dual wireless, comfort and onboard EQ memory are hard to match at that price. At $150–170 it stays competitive but meets the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) and Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3, both $199.99 list, which offer better mics or broader console support. At the $179.99 MSRP the value is marginal, because the thin boom mic, missing Xbox support and basic software count against it. When Tom’s Hardware reviewed it in May 2025, Best Buy listed it at $119.99; Best Buy Canada listed it at CA $169.99 and Truthful Reviews found it at £150 in the UK.
