Summary

An Xbox-licensed wireless gaming headset with 50mm angled drivers, dual 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.3 connections, and battery life rated up to 100 hours on 2.4GHz with the LEDs off. Check before you buy: there is no wired fallback, so a dead battery means a charger, not a cable.

Strengths

  • Battery life is the headline: days of play on 2.4GHz with the LEDs off.
  • Official Xbox licensing, and the dongle switch handles Xbox and PC without fuss.
  • 2.4GHz and Bluetooth run side by side, so you can hop between console and phone.
  • Positional audio places footsteps and gunfire well in shooters.
  • The detachable boom mic rejects background noise unusually well.
  • Memory foam cushions stay comfortable for about 4 hours.

Weaknesses

  • The build is plasticky, and the shallow earcups plus firm clamp press on larger ears over long sessions.
  • RGB lighting cuts battery life from 100 hours to 20 on 2.4GHz.
  • With no 3.5mm input, the headset cannot be used once the battery is empty.
  • The mic is clear but compressed, and the internal backup mic is average.
  • NGENUITY is basic, and turning off the RGB can need the legacy app.
  • There is no active noise cancellation, only passive isolation.

Battery life and RGB

The rated figures are unusually high: up to 100 hours on 2.4GHz with the LEDs off, up to 150 hours on Bluetooth, and up to 23 hours on Bluetooth with the lights on. Turn the RGB on and the 2.4GHz figure falls to about 20 hours. SoundGuys measured a run of more than a week with heavy use; PC Gamer called the stamina a standout after multiple days without a charge. Charging takes about 3.5 hours over USB-C, and the headset can play while it charges.

RGB settings can also fail to carry over when you switch to Bluetooth; reconnecting NGENUITY is the usual fix. One owner had to install the legacy NGENUITY app before the lights could be switched off.

Comfort and build

The frame is plastic with steel sliders and memory foam cushions wrapped in leatherette. SoundGuys found heat buildup in the pads noticeable after about 4 hours. PC Gamer, testing the sibling PC/PlayStation model, described the build as very plasticky, the clamp as firm, and the earcups as shallow enough that they do not fully enclose the ears, which adds pressure over a few hours. Nothing points to a defect; it is a comfort ceiling for bigger heads and longer sessions.

Sound and microphone

SoundGuys scored the CloudX Flight 2 at 7.7/10 and found the tuning follows their preference curve with a slight sub-bass bump, a small dip near 55Hz, a mild bass lift near 80Hz, slightly distant vocals around 3.5kHz, and a touch of extra sibilance near 7.5kHz. The MDAQS score of 2.6 is lower than most gaming headsets they test, though that metric is built for music. PC Gamer called the sibling’s tuning balanced, with punchy bass, clear mids, and controlled highs, and said the imaging is sharp enough to improve how you play. The boom mic is intelligible if a little muffled, and its noise rejection is among the best for a noisy room.

Xbox compatibility and which model this is

This is the Xbox-licensed CloudX Flight 2, not the PC/PlayStation Cloud Flight 2: the two share core hardware, but only the CloudX carries the licensing and the dongle’s physical Xbox/PC mode switch, and Xbox console compatibility needs the CloudX variant. It is also not the older 2019 CloudX Flight or the Cloud Flight S. Spatial audio is software-based through NGENUITY rather than built-in surround hardware. The older CloudX Flight line drew reports of an erratic volume wheel and USB receiver dropouts on Windows 10; there is no confirmation that these affect this generation, so treat them as lineage risks rather than known faults.

Is it worth it?

At $99 or below it is a strong buy for Xbox players who want a licensed wireless headset; SoundGuys called it an easy recommendation at that price. Between $100 and $120 the value is fair, with Xbox licensing and battery life as the main differentiators. At the $139.99 MSRP it is harder to justify unless Xbox certification is a hard requirement, because the build, comfort, and mic all trail better-equipped rivals. SoundGuys noted it is frequently on sale for around $99, and PC Gamer listed $129.99 at stores such as Best Buy and HP in April 2026, with deals dipping toward $85.48. There are no running costs: no subscription, and NGENUITY is free.
