Summary
The JBL Tune 770NC is an affordable folding Bluetooth 5.3 headphone with adaptive noise cancellation, multipoint, a wired fallback and very long manufacturer-rated battery life, sold here in the white US SKU JBLT770NCWHTAM. Check the fit before buying: JBL calls it over-ear, but independent testing found the cup openings small and shallow enough to sit on some ears.
Strengths
- Long claimed endurance for the price: 70 h without ANC and 44 h with ANC, plus fast charging.
- Multipoint and a supplied 3.5 mm cable add useful flexibility at this price.
- Buttons are easier to operate by feel than a touch surface for many users.
- RTINGS found well-matched left and right channels and low audible distortion, and the app EQ lets you tune the bass-heavy default.
- The folding, relatively light 232 g chassis packs smaller than fixed-headband headphones.
- Genuine white ear cushions and the audio cable are sold separately, so surface wear or a lost cable does not scrap the headset.
Weaknesses
- The cups are shallow, so normal or larger ears can press against the padding and lose the bass or ANC seal.
- RTINGS measured weak rejection of low-pitched vehicle and aircraft rumble, well short of flagship isolation.
- Owners report the plastic ear-to-headband hinge cracking, including repeat breaks on a replacement pair.
- Support can classify a cracked hinge as physical damage, which an India-based owner reported as a repair refusal.
- No carrying case is supplied, which matters for a folding joint with a history of breakage.
- Bluetooth lag rules out latency-sensitive gaming, and there is no mic over the 3.5 mm cable.

ANC, fit and calls
JBL’s adaptive ANC, Ambient Aware and TalkThru are set through the JBL Headphones app, and VoiceAware adds sidetone on calls. Set expectations: RTINGS measured weak rejection of low-pitched vehicle and aircraft rumble, with less isolation than the JBL Live 770NC or the Sony WH-CH720N, while TechRadar called the ANC good for everyday walks and commutes. The controlled frequency-band comparison is the more useful one. Fit is the other variable: RTINGS found the shallow cups and small openings can press on normal or larger ears and leak around glasses, which weakens both bass and ANC without any fault. For calls, RTINGS considers the Bluetooth mic adequate for short meetings in typical noise, not for professional call-center work.
Battery, charging and running costs
JBL rates up to 70 h with Bluetooth on and ANC off, 44 h with ANC on, and 30 h with ANC on and Bluetooth off, with about 2 h to full and up to 3 h of music from a 5-minute charge. There is no mandatory subscription and no compulsory annual part: basic Bluetooth audio, analog playback, multipoint and the app settings need no paid plan, and neither the cushions nor the 690 mAh, 3.7 V cell carries a manufacturer replacement interval. If a user chooses to change the genuine white cushion kit every year, that is $24.99 from JBL US (October 2026), but that is an example, not an expected wear rate. For electricity, the same 690 mAh, 3.7 V cell stores about 2.55 Wh; at 100 full-equivalent charges a year, 75% wall-to-battery efficiency and $0.20/kWh, charging would be roughly 0.34 kWh, or $0.07 a year, and those efficiency and usage figures are assumptions rather than JBL measurements.
Hinge, parts and repairs
The recurring complaint is the plastic ear-to-headband hinge. Owners naming the Tune 770NC describe the joint failing: one January 2026 report described a crack close to a year from purchase, a May 2026 thread has a July owner whose replacement pair broke a second time, and a July 2026 owner said the joint broke about seven months after a December 2025 gift. These are self-selected reports, not a measured failure rate. An August 2026 India-based owner reported a cracked hinge about five months after purchase and a service-center refusal under a physical-damage exclusion, but that is not US warranty policy. Owners discuss gluing or 3D-printed hinges, yet no official Tune 770NC hinge, swivel yoke or repair price was found, so do not treat forum fixes as tested. Neither the hinge nor the internal battery has a verified JBL US replacement part number or fixed service price. If a joint cracks on a warrantable unit, take photos, keep the receipt and ask JBL US for a written decision before attempting a home repair.
Is it worth it?
Best Buy and Walmart showed the white model at $89.95 against a $149.95 comparison (October 2026), though Best Buy noted some white configurations were no longer available new. Target listed the white model at $149.99 but showed it out of stock, and Target listed a Certified Refurbished unit at $59.99 with a one-year mechanical warranty, which is not the same as a new authorized sale. At $60-$80 it is a strong buy for a comfortable fit; at $80-$95 it is acceptable for the battery life and multipoint if you can live with small pads and moderate ANC; and $120 or more is hard to justify, because the higher-quality JBL Live 770NC has been listed at $119.95 at Best Buy and the newer Tune 780NC is $149.95 at JBL. Around $150, the outgoing Tune 770NC makes little sense against the in-stock Tune 780NC White at $149.95 with Bluetooth 6.0, up to 76 h advertised runtime, beamforming calls and spatial sound. The Sony WH-CH720N, with a roomier fit and stronger isolation, was $179.99 at Target.
Which model this is
This page covers the JBL Tune 770NC White, US SKU JBLT770NCWHTAM, with adaptive ANC, multipoint and a folding headband. It is not the JBL Live 770NC, the newer Tune 780NC, or the non-ANC Tune 720BT. White is a color variant of the model RTINGS tested in purple.
