Summary
A lightweight budget wireless gaming headset with dual Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz dongle connectivity for PC, Mac, PlayStation and Switch. Check the microphone before you buy: reviewers and owners alike call it the weak point, and it does not work with Xbox wirelessly.
Strengths
- At 279 g with plush faux-leather cushions, it is light and comfortable for long sessions.
- Battery ran 54 hours 28 minutes in SoundGuys’ standard test, well above the wireless average.
- Dual connectivity: Bluetooth 5.3 and a 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle, plus a USB-A adapter in the box.
- The Lab app gives PC and Mac players a 10-band EQ, button remapping and firmware updates.
- Two-year warranty, above average for budget gaming headsets.
- Works with PC, Mac, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.
Weaknesses
- The microphone is the weakest part, with a short fixed arm that cannot reach the mouth and rejects noise poorly.
- No Xbox wireless support; only the wired Nightfall variant handles Xbox through 3.5 mm.
- Clamping force dropped noticeably in SoundGuys’ extended testing, loosening the seal and isolation.
- Distortion is audible in complex scenes with many simultaneous sounds.
- Heat and sweat build up after roughly two hours of play.
- No active noise cancellation, only passive isolation that lets low-frequency rumble through.

Battery life and charging
The 2.4 GHz dongle mode is rated for 60+ hours and Bluetooth for 70+, but SoundGuys measured 54 hours 28 minutes through the dongle in a week-long test, so treat the claims as ideal-condition figures. Charging runs over USB-C, and a 10-minute top-up is rated to give 10 hours of play; the headset works while it charges. No wall adapter or cable is in the box, so budget for a USB-C cable if you don’t already have one.
Sound and microphone
The 50 mm drivers give a V-shaped profile: bass around 100 Hz and treble around 12 kHz are pushed up, and dialogue sits back. SoundGuys scored timbre 4.9 and distortion 2.9, and reported audible distortion when many sounds hit at once. The microphone is the weak point. Its short arm cannot be placed in front of your mouth, so it picks up room noise; SoundGuys found it usable in a quiet room and poor in an office. Owners in r/JLab describe sound and mic quality as terrible in calls, and some report the mic making static blips or not working. PCWorld’s static complaint was on a pre-production wired unit and JLab says production units fixed it, so treat the wireless mic as a limited part rather than a broken one.
Comfort and long-term build
At 279 g with plush faux-leather earcups, the Nightfall is light and comfortable for long sessions, though heat and sweat build up after about two hours. The headband adjusts with a Velcro strap rather than notched sliders, and SoundGuys noticed the clamping force dropping during extended testing, which loosens the seal over time. The frame is plastic, and no ear pads or other parts are offered as user replacements. Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat the loose fit as a known trait of the design, not a defect.
Is it worth it?
For under $50 it is solid value for casual players who want comfort, battery life and dual connectivity. Between $51 and $65 it is fair. Above that, other budget headsets with better microphones become available. JLab lists the Nightfall Wireless at $59.99 on its own store, and SoundGuys put the MSRP at $69.99. Skip it if clear team chat matters more than price: the fixed mic arm and weak noise rejection are the parts you cannot fix.
