Summary
A 31.5-inch 4K VA monitor whose 3000:1 static contrast is the main draw for dark rooms and film. Check the inputs before you buy: there is no USB-C, no swivel, and no professional instrumented review of this exact model.
Strengths
- The VA panel’s 3000:1 static contrast is described by BuyDig as three times deeper than typical IPS panels, the main draw for dark rooms.
- 140 ppi at 32 inches keeps text sharp enough for long documents and detailed creative work.
- The stand tilts, adjusts through 110 mm of height and pivots to portrait, and VESA 100 × 100 mm mounting is supported.
- Two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, built-in speakers and AMD FreeSync cover work, streaming and casual gaming.
- HDR10 and 90% DCI-P3 coverage are adequate for films and casual creative work, though no professional color data exists.
Weaknesses
- There is no USB-C, so laptop owners do not get single-cable docking or charging.
- The stand does not swivel — tilt, height and pivot only.
- 60 Hz and 4 ms GtG response are modest specs for competitive gaming.
- No professional instrumented review of this exact model was found at RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag.
- Owner evidence is thin: no Reddit, forum or retailer Q&A discussion of this model was located.
- LG rates brightness at 250 cd/m² while DisplaySpecifications lists 350 cd/m², and no independent measurement resolves the gap.

Contrast, sharpness and HDR
The panel is the story. The AUO M315QVN01 VA panel carries a 3000:1 static contrast rating that BuyDig describes as three times deeper than typical IPS panels — deep blacks in a dark room, and in dark-mode interfaces, are where this monitor earns its keep. At 3840 × 2160 across 31.5 inches you get 140 ppi, which keeps text crisp over long documents; Versus lists 139 ppi, a rounding difference only. Color coverage is 90% DCI-P3 (80% minimum) over a 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) panel, and HDR10 is supported.
No professional color-calibration data exists for this exact model, so treat the gamut and contrast figures as manufacturer claims until an independent lab measures a unit. A December 2025 YouTube review calls it “a very solid 32in 4K monitor for productivity creative work and entertainment” but publishes no measurements.
Brightness carries the same caveat. LG’s own regional pages rate 250 cd/m² typical (200 cd/m² minimum); DisplaySpecifications publishes 350 cd/m², likely a panel-capability maximum rather than the shipped picture. Treat 250 cd/m² as the working figure if brightness matters to you.
Gaming, stand and inputs
Gaming is the compromise. The 60 Hz refresh and 4 ms GtG response time suit productivity, streaming and casual play, but competitive gamers will want more; above $400 the research points to 120 Hz+ IPS or OLED alternatives. DisplaySpecifications lists a 1 ms minimum response time, but that appears to be a generic database field — LG’s pages and retailer specs consistently state 4 ms GtG. AMD FreeSync is supported.
The stand adjusts through -5° forward and 20° backward tilt, 110 mm of height adjustment and a 90° pivot for portrait work, and VESA 100 × 100 mm mounting is supported — but there is no swivel. Inputs are 2 × HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4 and a 3.5 mm headphone out; there is no USB-C, which laptop buyers should weigh. Built-in 2 × 5W speakers with Waves MaxxAudio cover basic audio.
Running costs are just electricity: 31.5 W average draw, 0.5 W in sleep and 0.3 W off, with no subscriptions or consumables.
Is it worth it?
The research puts the strongest value at or below $350, where 32-inch 4K, 3000:1 contrast, 90% DCI-P3, HDR10 and a fully adjustable stand undercut similarly priced IPS panels on contrast. From $350 to $400 the value is fair — worth it if VA contrast matters to you, but compare IPS alternatives with similar color gamut. Above $400 the 60 Hz refresh is harder to justify against newer high-refresh models.
Prices observed on 2026-10-11: BuyDig lists $349.99, the lowest new-condition price found; BestBuy lists $377.99 but states the item is no longer available in new condition; Newegg lists $523.99.
