Logitech Circle View: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-06
Summary
The most common problem is persistent Wi-Fi connection dropouts, reported by an owner of three units and partially worked around with a smart plug. There are no replaceable parts or consumables; the only running cost is the iCloud+ plan required for HomeKit Secure Video. At Logitech’s own $159.99 list price it is a good buy only for buyers already in Apple HomeKit who need outdoor coverage.
Common problems and fixes
- Connection dropouts — an owner of three Circle View cameras reports all three had problems: two outdoor units “kept losing connections (even with a strong WiFi signal)” and an indoor unit “would constantly disconnect for no reason.” Powering the cameras from a smart plug resolved the outdoor units. The indoor unit was replaced by Logitech under warranty after a lengthy exchange in which Logitech required a video proving the fault. [7]
- Outdoor bracket hard to aim — the same owner reports the outdoor mounting bracket is “incredibly difficult to attach and aim,” and once positioned the camera “probably won’t (can’t) move it again.” No fix is documented; plan the position before mounting. [7]
- Heavy cable pulls light body off-axis — the permanently attached ten-foot cable is fairly heavy while the camera body is lightweight, so on a shelf or cabinet the cable’s weight “could pull the camera in another direction if not careful.” Secure the cable or use the wall mount. [7]
- Records wrong motion — an Apple Community thread reports several Circle View cameras that “have been working great for months” but then “record wrong motion,” with recording configured via Recording Options / More Options. No confirmed fix is documented. [10]
- No 24/7 continuous recording — HomeKit Secure Video records motion-triggered clips only; there is no continuous recording mode. No workaround exists within HomeKit. [7]
- Brightness and no HDR — the 2021 reviewer judged image brightness as needing a boost and noted the camera lacks the HDR support of the Circle View Doorbell. No fix is documented. [5]
- Sold out at manufacturer — Logitech’s own store lists the camera “Sold Out Temporarily” with a notify-me button and no restock date. No restock date is published. [23]
- No spare parts or manual — Logitech publishes no spare parts, no documents and no downloadable specifications for this product. There is no official replacement-parts channel. [1][2][3]
Parts and consumables
No replaceable parts or consumables reported. Logitech’s support site states “There are no Spare Parts available for this Product” and “There are no Documents available for this Product.” The permanently attached power cable is not field-replaceable from any published source. [1][3][7]
Yearly running cost
The only documented recurring cost is the iCloud+ subscription required for HomeKit Secure Video. Camera count is capped by tier: one camera on the 50 GB plan, up to five on the 200 GB plan, and unlimited on the 2 TB plan and above. Dollar amounts for those plans were not stated on any page read. There is no Logitech subscription fee. Electricity for continuous AC power is a cost, but no consumption figure was found. [5][7]
When it is a good buy
Logitech’s own store lists the camera at $159.99 (Black, part 961-000489) and marks it Sold Out Temporarily with no restock date. The 2021 reviewer cited the same $159 price. [5][23]
- WyzeCam ($20 class) — the better choice for indoor use on a budget; the 2021 side-by-side found the Circle View captured more of the scene with cleaner colour, but the price difference is roughly eight times. [5]
- Eufy HomeKit indoor 2K camera — the better choice if you need 2K resolution within HomeKit; a launch-day reader comment favoured it over the Circle View at the same price. [4]
- Logitech Circle View — the better choice only if you are already in Apple HomeKit, pay for iCloud+, and need an outdoor-capable camera with a 180-degree diagonal view and hardware privacy controls. [5][7]
