Summary
A 12V brushless oscillating multi-tool sold tool-only, built for buyers already on Milwaukee’s M12 battery platform. If you don’t own M12 packs, price a battery and charger before you buy, because the box has neither.
Strengths
- Pro Tool Reviews’ 2020 standalone review of the M12 Fuel line praised vibration control as comparable to a Fein MultiMaster.
- The same review called plunge cuts into studs agreeably quick and said cutting through screws was handled well.
- Sanding was rated competent, with the small delta pad useful in tight areas.
- The 12-setting speed dial and tool-free blade change keep setup fast.
- A 5-year tool warranty with a US service network and mail-in eService backs it.
- It ships with a wood blade and five sanding sheets, which cuts initial accessory spend.
Weaknesses
- Sold tool-only with no battery or charger, so the total cost depends on M12 packs you already own.
- Milwaukee’s “fastest 12V cut speed” and “lowest full-tool vibration” claims are not verified by independent instrumented testing.
- Pro Tool Reviews’ 2026 head-to-head tested nine cordless multi-tools but not this model.
- The threaded OPEN-LOK interface is less quick than Starlock or clamp-style accessory systems.
- No independent measurements of cut speed, vibration or noise for the exact 2526-20 were found.
- The warranty excludes normal-wear parts such as blade clamps, o-rings, seals and bumpers.

Full research notes and sources
Cut speed, vibration and what the tests show
The manual rates the tool at 10,000–20,000 no-load OPM, with dial position “1” at 10,000 and “12” at 20,000. Accessory changes are tool-free through a quick-release lever and bolt, and the included adapter takes accessories that don’t fit the flange directly. Milwaukee uses its OPEN-LOK interface, a threaded bolt, rather than Starlock or a clamp. Pro Tool Reviews notes the threaded pin is tool-free but less quick than those systems.
Milwaukee claims a vibration-isolating design and the lowest full-tool vibration in the class. Those claims weren’t tested in Pro Tool Reviews’ 2026 head-to-head: nine cordless multi-tools were timed across yellow pine, red oak, nail-embedded pine, CPVC, copper pipe, EMT conduit and threaded rod, and the 2526-20 was not among them. In that test Pro Tool Reviews wrote that the M18 Fuel 2836’s vibration control is noteworthy but its M12 Fuel counterpart is even better, a qualitative endorsement without numbers. The 2020 standalone review of the exact M12 Fuel line scored it 9.4/10, reporting vibration so low the reviewer said he would have sworn he was cutting with a Fein. No instrumented cut-speed, vibration or durability measurement of the exact 2526-20 was found from Pro Tool Reviews, RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag.
Warranty, service and upkeep
Milwaukee warrants the tool to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for 5 years, batteries for 3 years on current M12 REDLITHIUM packs, and accessories for 2 years. Registration isn’t required; date codes set the period without proof of purchase. The warranty excludes misuse, alterations, abuse, normal wear and tear, lack of maintenance and accidents, and it excludes wear parts including blade clamps, o-rings, seals and bumpers. Repairs go through Milwaukee factory service centers or authorized stations, freight prepaid, and out-of-warranty tools can use Lightning Max Repair pricing. The manual says to remove the battery before changing accessories, clear dust from the vents, keep handles clean and dry, and never service a damaged battery pack yourself.
Batteries and total cost
The bare tool was $159.00 at Burns Power Tools, checked 2026-10-10. Pro Tool Reviews listed the bare tool at $149 and a 4.0Ah kit at $219 in its 2020 review. The tool works with all M12 batteries, so existing M12 owners skip battery cost while everyone else adds a pack and charger. The kit variant 2526-21HO, with a 2.5Ah High Output battery, charger, accessories and bag, was $179.00 at Home Depot in October 2026. For context, Pro Tool Reviews’ February 2026 prices put the Skil OS592702, a 12V kit with battery and charger, at $99, the Ridgid R86242 at $149, the Bosch GOP18V-34N at $179, the DeWalt DCS356 at $199 and the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2836 at $249.
Is it worth it?
For someone already on the M12 platform, the $159 bare price at Burns Power Tools buys a light 2.296 lb tool, a 5-year warranty with US service, plus a blade and sanding sheets in the box. The case is thinner for buyers without M12 batteries: adding a pack and charger pushes the total toward 18V tools that Pro Tool Reviews measured cutting faster in most materials. Its independent case rests on a 2020 standalone review and a 2026 qualitative vibration comment, not on instrumented testing of this exact model.
