Summary

A countertop blender with a 1400-peak-watt motor, a 72 oz Total Crushing pitcher, three Auto-iQ presets and four manual speeds, built for smoothies and frozen drinks rather than all-purpose cooking. It no longer appears in Ninja’s current US line-up, so confirm parts and support before buying.

Strengths

  • Crushed ice in 60 seconds in independent testing.
  • Mixed a “perfect margarita” in 120 seconds.
  • Controls are easy to read, with icon-labeled presets and indicator lights.
  • The lid, pitcher and blades are dishwasher-safe.
  • The 72 oz pitcher suits family-sized batches.
  • Auto-iQ presets take the guesswork out of smoothies and frozen drinks.

Weaknesses

  • Green smoothies and tomato soup came out grainy in testing.
  • It left oats and nuts unblended in the fruit-and-oats test.
  • No soup-heating capability and no flour grinding.
  • Nut butter needed stirring between blends and added oil.
  • It is loud, notably during the kernel-grinding test.
  • The model is absent from Ninja’s current US line-up, so support and parts are unconfirmed.

What it does well

TechGearLab’s exact-model test (2022) scored the BN701 68 out of 100 and ranked it 10th of 15 blenders. It crushed ice in 60 seconds and made a margarita in 120 seconds, one extra 60-second blend beyond what the manual recommends. The panel praised the margaritas, frozen drinks, ease of use and family-sized pitcher, and the icon-labeled presets with indicator lights are easy to interpret.

Where it struggles

The same test found a berry smoothie slightly too thick and a green smoothie grainy, with kale not fully pureed. A fruit-and-oats smoothie left the oats and nuts unblended, nut butter needed stirring between blends plus added oil, and tomato soup came out grainy and lumpy with no way to heat it. It could not grind kernels into flour.

Model status and what to check

BN701 is not listed in Ninja’s current US line-up; the current category page shows the CrushBOSS, TotalCrush, BlendBOSS, Detect, Blast and Twisti families and no Professional Plus model. The closest current Ninja spec match is the TotalCrush High Powered Blender (IQ601): 72 oz, 1400 peak watts and three Auto-iQ presets, listed at $119.99 on Ninja’s site. Do not confuse BN701 with the older Ninja Professional BL610 (1000 W, three speeds plus pulse) or with the cups-included Professional Plus DUO.

Parts, upkeep and warranty

No first-party manual was readable, so BN701’s warranty terms, program durations, weight and box contents are unverified. Ninja runs a blender parts category, but model-specific BN701 part availability is unconfirmed. There are no consumables to reorder beyond ingredients, and replacement-parts costs for this model are unknown. The lid, pitcher and blades are dishwasher-safe, though Wirecutter generally advises hand-washing blender jars and lids to avoid cracking and to extend their life.

Is it worth it?

At or below about $100, the 72 oz pitcher, Auto-iQ presets and dishwasher-safe parts are competitive for drinks-focused buyers. Between $100 and $110 it is fair, and above about $110 the value weakens: the model is missing from Ninja’s current line-up while currently supported alternatives sit at similar prices, such as the TotalCrush IQ601 at $119.99 on Ninja’s site. TechGearLab called the BN701 “an absolute steal” for smoothies and blended drinks but said it “will likely leave you with buyer’s remorse” for soup or flour, and noted a similarly priced NutriBullet Combo scored higher, 75 against 68. Its 2022 list price was $110 (TechGearLab).

Which model this is

This is the Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ, model BN701, sold in the US under ASIN B0855B5Z6F. It carries a 72 oz BPA-free Total Crushing pitcher, a stacking blade assembly and dishwasher-safe parts. Keep it separate from the older BL610 and from the Professional Plus DUO; different motors and included parts mean their test results do not transfer.
