Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A full-size cold-blending blender that crushes ice well and makes large smoothie and frozen-drink batches for the price of a mid-range appliance. Check one thing before you buy: fibrous greens and very thick mixtures need more liquid and more stirring than a tamper-equipped machine will ask of you.

Strengths

  • Crushes ice fast: TechGearLab got crushed ice in 60 seconds and a margarita in 120.
  • 64 oz of usable liquid capacity handles family-sized batches in one pour.
  • Four manual programs remain, so it is not preset-only.
  • Pitcher and blade go in the dishwasher.
  • Owners in r/Smoothies report daily use over three years with continued satisfaction.

Weaknesses

  • No tamper, so fibrous greens and thick mixes stall until you add liquid or stir.
  • Very loud, and nobody has published a trustworthy decibel figure for this exact model.
  • Plastic pitcher scratches during use, seen in independent testing and owner reports.
  • One-year warranty, shorter than premium blenders.
  • Replacement parts are priced close to a whole discounted blender, which makes a major out-of-warranty repair poor value.
  • A March 2026 owner reports a newer BN701 base connection refused BN751 accessories.

Ice and frozen drinks

This is where the machine earns its price. TechGearLab’s BN701 test crushed ice in 60 seconds and finished a margarita in 120 seconds. Shouldit’s testers rated ice crushing 10 out of 10 in their own scoring. Frozen drinks and big ice-heavy batches are the reason to buy this over a cheaper blender.

Smoothies and thick mixtures

Frozen-fruit smoothies are weaker. Shouldit scored a plain smoothie at 4.6 and a frozen-fruit smoothie at 6.5, with kale, oats, berries and frozen fruit resisting homogenization. The stacked blade sits low in the jug without a tamper to push material down, so the fix is more liquid and a stop to stir. TechGearLab also scored it lower on smoothies and pureeing than on frozen drinks. If your daily drink is a thick green smoothie, this is a design tradeoff, not a defect you can tune away.

Noise and daily handling

Noise is the complaint that shows up most often in owner summaries and tests, and no exact-model decibel measurement exists, so judge it in-store if noise bothers you. The removable blade tower is another handling point: it is very sharp, it does not lock to the pitcher, and the guide tells you to hold it by the shaft. In a full72 oz pitcher it sits in the middle of your pour path.

Is it worth it?

Buy it on sale. Around ninety dollars it is hard to argue with for ice and large cold batches; the mainstream retailer band around a hundred ten still suits that use. Past roughly one hundred twenty the short warranty and the plastic-and-parts tradeoffs start to matter, and well above that you should wait for a sale or look at a machine with a tamper and a longer warranty. Check the store panel above for current prices.

Long-term cost is the weak point. SharkNinja lists the pitcher and lid at seventy-two dollars and ninety-nine cents and the motor base at ninety-four dollars and ninety-nine cents, against a complete blender that has recently sold for eighty-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents. Outside warranty, a major assembly can cost more than a new machine.

Which model this is

This page covers the gray BN701 sold in the US. The ASIN is B0855B5Z6F and the UPC reported by several exact-model retailers is 622356561884. Do not treat BN751 or BN801 accessories as interchangeable: one March 2026 owner reports a newer BN701 base connection would not accept BN751 parts, and SharkNinja publishes no revision suffix. There are no personal cups, no food-processor bowl and no tamper here — those belong to other models in the range.
