Summary

A Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship with a 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery, a 6.78-inch 165Hz display and 80W charging, built for people who want two-day battery life and fast gaming. Check two things before buying: the cameras are a step back from the OnePlus 13, and OnePlus has left the US market, so long-term service and parts are uncertain.

Strengths

  • Two-day battery life, with PCMag measuring 26 hours 11 minutes in its standardized test.
  • The included 80W charger refills a full battery in about 40–45 minutes.
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers top-tier gaming performance with vapor-chamber cooling.
  • The 6.78-inch 165Hz LTPO display is smooth and responsive.
  • IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K protection covers dust, immersion and high-pressure water jets.
  • Consumer Reports rated performance, battery life and camera quality “very good” and durability “excellent”.

Weaknesses

  • Cameras are the most common complaint: smaller sensors than the OnePlus 13 and no Hasselblad color science.
  • Some owners report heating during heavy gaming and after switching on 165Hz.
  • The 4-year software update policy looks short for hardware this capable.
  • No mmWave 5G, which can limit 5G performance on some US carriers.
  • The phone is out of stock through official US channels after OnePlus’s market exit.
  • The Sand Storm finish is slippery, according to WIRED.

Battery life and charging

Multiple independent reviews report two-day battery life. PCMag measured 26 hours 11 minutes in its standardized test, and WIRED got 10.5 hours of screen-on time over two days. The 7,300mAh silicon-carbon cell is the largest in a US phone. With the included 80W SUPERVOOC charger, CNET went from 1% to 73% in 30 minutes and reached 100% in 45 minutes; WIRED saw 15% to 80% in 30 minutes. Wireless charging is standard Qi only, with no Qi2 magnetic support.

Performance and gaming

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is fast in benchmarks: PCMag recorded Geekbench 6 scores of 3,669 single-core and 11,333 multi-core, CNET got 3,670 and 11,061, plus a 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score of 7,227. Owners praise the vapor chamber, with one reporting no overheating during emulation and temperatures below 38°C. Others report the phone heating after 10–15 minutes of heavy gaming, and one says enabling 165Hz made it heat up during normal use.

Cameras

OnePlus ended its Hasselblad partnership and now uses its own DetailMax Engine. Reviews call the camera solid but not class-leading, with smaller sensors than the OnePlus 13; Digital Camera World notes marginal improvements and some HDR wobbles. Tom’s Guide calls the selfie camera soft. The telephoto steps up to 3.5x optical zoom.

OnePlus’s US exit and support

OnePlus confirmed it is leaving the US and European markets on July 16, 2026, and the OnePlus 15 is the last flagship it will officially sell in the US. The company promises continued software, security and after-sales support, and existing devices move from OxygenOS to ColorOS with the Android 17 update. US stock sold out by early August 2026, so the phone is no longer sold directly by OnePlus in the US. What the exit means for parts and service centers over the years is unclear.

Is it worth it?

At the $899.99 launch price the 256GB model undercut the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra by $100–200 while matching or beating them on battery life and charging. The 512GB model launched at $999.99 (OnePlus, November 2025). The trade-off is the camera, and buyers who put camera quality first may find better options from Google or Samsung. With the US exit, long-term value is less certain.

Which model this is

This page covers the OnePlus 15 in the 256GB / 12GB configuration, model CPH2749, sold in the US only in Infinite Black. OnePlus does not use separate model numbers for storage variants, so the 256GB and 512GB models share CPH2749. The 512GB / 16GB configuration adds Sand Storm and Ultra Violet colors.
