Summary

A 270 g wireless esports headset with 50mm TriForce Titanium Gen-2 drivers, three ways to connect and up to 70 hours of battery. The one thing to check before buying: the default 10 ms low-latency mode cuts battery life to about 30 hours at 50% volume.

Strengths

  • Light at 270 g, comfortable for long sessions.
  • 70-hour battery on 2.4 GHz, plus fast top-ups of about 6 hours from a 15-minute charge.
  • Clear positional audio for footsteps and gunshots.
  • Effective passive noise isolation without active noise cancellation.
  • Three ways to connect, including simultaneous 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth audio.
  • Physical controls are well placed and easy to use.

Weaknesses

  • No active noise cancellation; that is reserved for the V3 Pro.
  • The default 10 ms low-latency mode cuts battery life to about 30 hours at 50% volume.
  • The USB-A dongle is awkward with modern laptops.
  • No onboard storage for the detachable mic, so you have to keep it somewhere else.
  • A Razer Synapse 4 bug keeps mic enhancements working only while selected in the UI.
  • No 3.5 mm analog cable in the box.

Battery life and low-latency mode

Razer claims up to 70 hours of battery life, but that figure is for the standard HyperSpeed mode. The 10 ms low-latency mode, which is the default, drops runtime to roughly 30 hours at 50% volume. Both numbers are correct under different settings, so decide which matters more: competitive latency or days between charges. A full charge takes about 4 hours, and a quick 15-minute top-up gets you about 6 hours. There is no onboard profile storage for the mic, and the EQ presets stored on the headset let you skip the software once you have dialled in a profile.

Mic, software and connectivity

The detachable 9.9 mm HyperClear Super Wideband mic is the same unit used on the BlackShark V2 Pro (2023), not the upgraded 12 mm Full Band mic of the V3 Pro. TechRadar called the mic exceptional and reported receiving compliments on call quality. The catch is software: a Razer Synapse 4 bug means mic enhancements such as noise cancellation and vocal clarity only apply while actively selected in the UI, and switching tabs removes them. THX Spatial Audio 7.1.4 works only on Windows 11 23H2 or newer, so older Windows versions, macOS and consoles miss out. The dongle is USB-A, not USB-C, which some owners find inconvenient, and the headset keeps 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth audio running at the same time.

Is it worth it?

At $149.99 MSRP the V3 undercuts most premium wireless gaming headsets while offering competitive audio, a light build and ultra-low-latency wireless. PC Gamer scored it 91/100 and preferred it over both the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless and the older BlackShark V2 Pro. It is at its best around $100–$125: Walmart and Newegg both list it at $129.99, and PC Gamer reported a deal at $103.99 in August 2026, down from $149.99. At full price, the missing active noise cancellation and the USB-A dongle are harder to overlook. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 competes at $129.99. If you need active noise cancellation, a better mic or a USB-C dongle, the V3 Pro at $249.99 is the step up.

Which model this is

This page covers the standard BlackShark V3, model RZ04-05410x, sold in black only. It sits between the BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed and the flagship BlackShark V3 Pro. It is not the V3 Pro: the standard model has no active noise cancellation, uses 50mm TriForce Titanium Gen-2 drivers instead of bio-cellulose, and takes a 9.9 mm mic instead of the Pro’s 12 mm Full Band unit. The product id referenced here is ASIN B0FH5XX7GP. Do not merge it with the BlackShark V2, V2 Pro, V3 X HyperSpeed or V3 Pro.
