Summary

A triple-lens PoE security camera that combines a 10MP 180° panoramic upper camera with an 8MP pan-tilt lower camera for 360° coverage from one mounting point. Check the mounting angle before you buy: the panoramic lenses have a fixed upward angle, and the wrong position can bounce IR back into the lens at night.

Strengths

  • One camera replaces two: the panoramic lens gives a constant 180° overview while the PTZ camera tracks movement independently.
  • SyncTrack tracking follows detected subjects smoothly in live view.
  • No mandatory cloud subscription — microSD, NVR, or NAS storage all work without a plan.
  • Local AI detection for people, vehicles and animals runs on the camera.
  • Full-color night vision via the built-in spotlight.
  • Audio quality draws praise in independent reviews.

Weaknesses

  • No optical zoom — all magnification is digital, so long-range detail like license plates is out of reach.
  • Large and heavy; needs a sturdy mounting surface and looks conspicuous.
  • The Reolink app confuses reviewers with its layout and options.
  • Owners report SyncTrack lag, with the camera sometimes taking over 5 seconds to pan toward detected subjects.
  • Firmware bugs including uncommanded pan movement have appeared since launch.
  • Auto Framing digital zoom is live-view only — it does not show up in recordings.

Coverage and tracking

The core idea is simple: the dual-lens panoramic upper camera covers 180° in a fixed wide view while the 8MP lower camera pans 350° and tilts 50° to follow detected movement. Together they deliver 360° coverage from one mounting point. SyncTrack auto-framing and auto-tracking are the main draws — The Ambient called the tracking “seriously impressive” and T3 described it as “like a hawk”. The AI detection runs locally for people, vehicles and animals, plus line crossing, zone intrusion and zone loitering alerts.

But the tracking has a lag problem. In r/reolinkcam threads, owners report the camera can take “well over 5 seconds” to pan toward a detected subject. Reolink’s own blog acknowledges “occasional handoff lag on fast-moving subjects”, and a firmware update claims to have optimized tracking performance. The camera launched in June 2026, so long-term reliability data does not exist yet.

Night vision and mounting

The lower camera sees in IR up to 30m (100ft), and the upper camera can switch to a full-color spotlight mode using 8 LEDs at 7W and 6000K. The spotlight is useful to about 15m according to The Ambient, with IR extending the range beyond that.

Mounting matters more than usual. The panoramic lenses have a fixed upward angle, so the camera needs to sit close to the edge under the eave with about a 10-degree downward tilt. Digital Reviews Network found that an incorrect angle causes IR bounce-back that “trashes” the panoramic image at night. At 202 × 151 × 125mm and about 1.1kg, the unit is what The Ambient called “an absolute monster” — check that your mounting surface can handle it.

App, NVR and firmware

The Reolink app draws consistent criticism. Multiple reviewers describe it as confusing and difficult to navigate, even while acknowledging it offers extensive options. The PC client does not support dual-screen viewing when the camera is connected to an NVR, according to the US product page, though a Reddit user reports it currently works and the mobile page says client v8.21 supports it.

If you own a Reolink NVR, check firmware compatibility before buying. The US product page requires firmware 3.6.5 or later to view the PTZ feed on an NVR — earlier versions show only the panoramic view. The international page states 3.6.4. Reolink has released firmware updates addressing false alarm reduction, tracking performance and night vision quality since launch.

Auto Framing’s digital zoom is a live-view feature only. Reolink’s blog confirms it is not saved into recordings on the NVR, microSD card, or platforms like Scrypted or HomeKit. If you expect recorded close-ups, that is a limitation.

Running costs

PoE eliminates separate power cabling — one Ethernet cable handles both data and power. Recording to microSD, NVR, or NAS avoids mandatory cloud subscription fees. Reolink cloud storage is available as an option but not required for core functionality. The 2-year limited warranty covers defects.

The WiFi variant lists at $279.99 US MSRP (T3, Aug 2026) with a regular price of $329.99 (The Ambient, Sep 2026). No US PoE price was confirmed from retail sources.

Which model this is

This page covers the REOLINK OMVI 3i PoE, the wired variant of the OMVI 3i triple-lens camera. Reolink also sells an OMVI 3i WiFi with the same triple-lens layout but dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity instead of PoE. Most independent reviews tested the WiFi variant; Digital Reviews Network tested the PoE model directly. The Amazon listing for the PoE model is ASIN B0GF7X4M1Y. Do not confuse it with the flagship OMVI X16 PoE, which offers higher resolution.
