Summary

Samsung’s 2025 Fan Edition phone brings flagship-adjacent features — a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, 4900mAh battery, and 45W charging — to a lower price point. Check the Exynos 2400 chipset’s performance against the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the base S25 before you buy.

Strengths

  • The 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display is excellent, with 1247 nits measured brightness and minimal glare.
  • Consumer Reports rated durability excellent — it passed tumble, rain, and water intrusion tests.
  • The 4900mAh battery delivers 17 hours of video streaming in PCMag’s test.
  • 45W wired charging hits 65% in 30 minutes.
  • Seven years of OS upgrades and security updates.
  • The 12MP front camera is a meaningful upgrade over the S24 FE’s 10MP unit.

Weaknesses

  • No charger in the box; you need Samsung’s 45W PPS adapter for full speed.
  • The Exynos 2400 lags behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the base S25 (Geekbench single-core: 1,967 vs 3,050).
  • The display is FHD+, not QHD+ like the S25+.
  • The 8MP telephoto is lower resolution than the 10MP unit on the S25 and S25+.
  • No mmWave 5G support.
  • Portrait mode struggles with glasses and messy hair.

Performance and display

The Exynos 2400 is Samsung’s own chipset, not Qualcomm Snapdragon. PCMag measured Geekbench 6 scores of 1,967 single-core and 6,703 multi-core, well behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the base S25 (3,050 and 9,559). In daily use, the phone handles multitasking and gaming smoothly — PCMag ran Asphalt Legends at 60fps on highest settings with no slowdowns in a 15-minute session, though the area around the rear cameras became warm.

The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is FHD+ (1080 × 2340), not QHD+ like the S25+. GSMArena measured 1247 nits max brightness, and Consumer Reports praised the display’s excellent brightness and readability with minimal reflective glare. In harsh sunlight, some glare and visibility issues can occur — there’s no anti-reflective coating like the S25 Ultra has.

Battery life and charging

The 4900mAh battery (4755mAh rated) delivers solid endurance. PCMag measured 17 hours of video streaming, GSMArena measured 11 hours 57 minutes of active use, and Consumer Reports rated battery life “average” at 30 hours. These tests use different methodologies, so real-world results will vary.

Charging is fast: 45W wired hits 65% in 30 minutes and 100% in about 1 hour 15 minutes. Wireless charging is 15W, and reverse wireless is 4.5W. No charger is included in the box — Samsung recommends its own 45W PPS adapter for full speed.

Cameras

The triple-camera setup includes a 50MP wide (f/1.8, OIS), 8MP telephoto (f/2.4, 3x optical zoom, OIS), and 12MP ultrawide (f/2.2, 123°). Consumer Reports rated camera performance “very good,” with strong color quality, exposure, sharpness, and low noise. The 12MP front camera is a step up from the S24 FE’s 10MP unit.

Portrait mode has trouble with glasses or messy hair and sometimes produces unnatural results. The 8MP telephoto is lower resolution than the 10MP unit on the S25 and S25+, though real-world differences are still unclear.

Software and updates

The phone ships with Android 16 and One UI 8, with up to 7 major OS upgrades and 7 years of security updates. Galaxy AI features work as well as on pricier S25 models — Audio Eraser separates voices, noise, and music in videos on-device, and Gemini cross-app actions handle tasks like finding restaurants and texting results. Galaxy AI features are free only until the end of 2025; different terms may apply for third-party AI features.

Face unlock is not secure enough for banking applications — only the fingerprint sensor is recommended for sensitive authentication.

Is it worth it?

At $649.99 for the 128GB model on Samsung.com, the S25 FE is a solid choice for those invested in the Samsung ecosystem who want flagship features without the S25+ price tag. At $599 or below, it becomes more compelling. At full price, the value proposition weakens against both the Pixel 9a (better value at $499) and the base S25 (better performance at $799.99). If you prioritize Samsung-specific features like One UI, DeX, and Galaxy AI, the S25 FE delivers them at a reasonable price.

Which model this is

This page covers the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE 5G with 128GB storage, model SM-S731B (single SIM) or SM-S731B/DS (dual SIM). It was announced and released on September 4, 2025. The US Amazon variant is ASIN B0FG1WDRTZ. Don’t confuse it with the Galaxy S24 FE (Exynos 2400e, 4700mAh, 10MP front camera, 25W charging) or the Galaxy S25+ (Snapdragon 8 Elite, QHD+ display, 12GB RAM, 10MP telephoto).
