Summary
A light cordless stick vacuum with HEPA filtration, a removable battery and a five-year warranty, built for hard floors and low-pile carpet. Check the price before you buy: labs disagree about its pet-hair pickup, and at list price the same money reaches newer Shark sticks.
Strengths
- Light at 7.94 lb, and testers found it nimble under and around furniture.
- Hard-floor pickup measured at 93% and 94% sand removal by two labs; RTINGS calls bare floors fantastic.
- Removable battery, so a second pack can charge while you clean.
- Five-year limited warranty, which CNET lists as a pro.
- Onboard HEPA filter that RTINGS found very effective at sealing in allergens.
- Low-pile carpet pickup of 90% and 92% across two labs.
Weaknesses
- Measured suction is low at 75 Pa, and a thick front bumper stopped coffee grounds at baseboards (TechGearLab).
- Floor time on maximum is short: 14 minutes measured, and one owner reports closer to 15 with suction fading as the battery drains.
- The brushroll cannot be removed, so long hair has to be cut off it.
- Pet-hair performance is contested: CNET says it did not do well at removing pet hair despite the name.
- Small dust cup at 0.34 qt with no self-empty dock, and the three-layer filter eats into that capacity.
- No wall mount is included, and one lab had to lean the vacuum against something.

Battery life and what the 40 minutes means
Shark’s headline figure is up to 40 minutes, and the qualifier attached to it changes how you should read it: Shark measures at the handheld in standard mode, not on floors at maximum. TechGearLab measured 43 minutes on low and 14 on max. RTINGS lists 41 minutes of battery life. CNET measured 42.3 minutes without stating a mode and called that middle of the pack. CNN Underscored, timing run times in a real home, found the advertised 40 minutes held up.
One Home Depot owner reports closer to 15 minutes and says the vacuum loses suction as the battery runs down. No instrumented source confirms that as a fault rather than normal motor behaviour, so treat it as expected.
Budget about 15 minutes of floor cleaning per charge, or buy a second battery at $86.99 from SharkNinja. Charging takes roughly 2.8 hours. Shark’s owner’s guide restricts storage to between 37.4°F and 104°F, allows dry household use only, and approves one charger for the series.
Hard floors, carpet and pet hair
The surface split is consistent across labs. On hard floors they measured 93% and 94% sand removal. On low-pile carpet, 92% and 90%. Mid pile came in at 84.3% and high pile at 49%. Low suction plus an aggressive brush design is why bare floors work and embedded debris does not: TechGearLab’s testers needed extra passes for larger debris because of the low front headgate and left sand behind in carpet.
Pet hair is where the sources split, and it is the reason most people would buy this vacuum. CNN Underscored’s reviewer, who owns a shedding Chihuahua mix, chose it from six Shark machines on performance, agility and value, and Home Depot owners mostly praise its pet-hair pickup. CNET’s lab says the opposite, reporting that it did not actually do well at removing pet hair despite the name and calling it a bad choice for pet owners. TechGearLab’s numbers, 72% on low pile and 40% on high pile, sit between the two. If pet hair is why you are buying, read both claims before you spend.
Filtration divides the same way. RTINGS calls the onboard HEPA very effective at sealing in allergens. TechGearLab counted 260 airborne particles, rated that only Good, and steers air-quality-sensitive buyers to other machines. Read it as sealed for allergens and average for total particle escape. The filter is not designed to be removed for rinsing, and no ASTM rating or micron size is published for this model, so do not borrow a figure from Shark’s newer machines.
Maintenance, storage and repairs
The brushroll is the weak point. It cannot be removed, and TechGearLab’s testers cut long hair off it after every pet-hair run. That undercuts the self-cleaning claim: it reduces wrapping, it does not remove hair, and one Home Depot owner calls the self-cleaning wording the thing that makes the vacuum frustrating to maintain.
Storage is disputed and it matters in a small flat. TechGearLab says no wall mount is included and the vacuum does not stand on its own, so it had to lean against something. CNET calls it freestanding and able to sit in a corner. What is documented is that the handheld clips onto the bottom of the stick. Nothing in the sources supports a claim that it folds flat.
Consumables are the cheap part. SharkNinja lists the pre-motor foam and felt filter kit at $16.99 and the HEPA post-motor filter at $20.99. There are no bags to buy. A replacement battery runs $86.99, the PowerFin DuoClean nozzle $104.99, the dust cup $40.99 and the straight wand $33.99. SharkNinja’s US warranty terms exclude normal filter wear and, notably, damage caused by not cleaning the filters or not removing brushroll debris, so the scissors routine is a warranty issue and not just an annoyance. SharkNinja pays to have the unit sent in and charges $25.95 to ship a repaired or replacement unit back. The battery’s own warranty term is not published for this series; a guide for the sibling IZ370 and IZ380 series carries a two-year battery term, so check before you count on one. Service runs through sharkclean.com/support.
Is it worth it?
Buy it at $280 or below. That is roughly where a Home Depot promotion landed, and at that figure you get a light cordless stick with HEPA filtration, a removable battery and a five-year warranty. At $320 to $330, the level CNET quoted as full price and the level Shark’s own store lists, the case thins out: the same retailer sells newer Shark sticks such as the PowerPro Pet IZ373H and the PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H at $279.99, and TechGearLab rates the Shark Stratos as beating this model in every category at higher cost. TechGearLab placed it 14th of 21 cordless sticks with a score of 63. Spend up if you have high-pile carpet, embedded sand or a heavy shedder.
Availability deserves one check before you order. Shark’s own store and Best Buy both list it, while the Home Depot page carries a discontinued block next to live pricing. Check the store panel above before you buy.
Which model this is
This page covers the Shark Pet Plus Cordless Stick Vacuum, model IZ361H, sold in blue, listed by Best Buy under SKU 12514554 and by Home Depot under internet number 319654113. Shark’s own storefront sells it under the SKU string zidIZ361H. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0BLZQNB89. The owner’s guide is a single document covering the IZ340, IZ360 and UZ360 series, so there is no standalone manual for this model.
Do not merge it with the PowerPro Pet IZ373H, the Stratos IZ862H, the PowerDetect IP1251, or the sibling IZ362H, IZ363HT and UZ365H that RTINGS tested on the same page. SharkNinja lists all of those separately, so match the model number before you order.
Third-party replacement batteries list compatibility with IZ362H, IZ363HT, IZ376H, IZ382H and IZ377H, and IZ361H is not among them. If you need a pack, use the Shark XSBT620.
