Summary

A purpose-built sleep earbud from Anker’s soundcore brand, with active noise cancellation, adaptive snore-masking and a 3 g low-profile bud made for side sleepers. Check the variant before you buy: the standard Sleep A30 and the Sleep A30 Special differ in battery life and features.

Strengths

  • The first soundcore sleep bud with active noise cancellation, and PCMag found the ANC potent against low-frequency noise.
  • The 3 g bud, silicone sleeve and wingtip sit flush enough for side sleepers.
  • Adaptive snore-masking uses a microphone in the case to detect snoring and plays masking audio in the earbuds.
  • The case recharges the earbuds 4 times, and PCMag finished a nine-hour night with battery left for the alarm.
  • The IPX4 rating makes them usable as travel earbuds, not just bedroom earbuds.
  • The app carries a large sound library: ocean, forest, rain, white noise and more.

Weaknesses

  • Music sound is bass-heavy with a thin upper register; PCMag calls it no better than OK for music.
  • No EQ, no transparency mode, no multipoint and AAC-only codec support at this price.
  • Very loud snoring can still come through; one owner says that if you can feel the snoring, don’t bother.
  • The ANC hardware widened the bud, and the Tom’s Guide reviewer felt plastic digging into the antihelix at some sleeping angles.
  • Sleep detection is fiddly, and the app is close to essential for full functionality.
  • Call quality is just so-so, and the single mic would not activate for test recordings on Windows or Android.

Comfort and fit

Each bud weighs 3 g and uses a soft silicone sleeve with a wrap-around wingtip that cushions the concha and antihelix; the main body is roughly M&M-sized. Owners on soundcore.com call them the best earbuds they have found for sleeping, and say the main piece is small enough not to bother them as a side sleeper. The tradeoff is the ANC hardware: it increased the bud’s surface width, and the Tom’s Guide reviewer felt extra plastic digging into the antihelix and helix when lying at certain angles. Owner reviews on soundcore.com praise the comfort, so the pressure problem may be angle-specific rather than universal.

Noise cancellation and snore-masking

The A30 is the first soundcore sleep bud with active noise cancellation. PCMag found the ANC potent: it eliminates low-frequency noises and minimizes high-frequency sound, though it occasionally slipped with a running air filter fan. There is no transparency mode and no manual ANC adjustment; the level is fully automatic. The Special variant adds TÜV Rheinland-certified adaptive snore-masking: a microphone in the case monitors for snoring and triggers masking audio in the earbuds. Tom’s Guide says the snore-masking works wonders. Owners on soundcore.com say the buds cut out noise, including snoring, but very loud snoring can still be felt, and one owner characterizes the noise management as psychoacoustic masking rather than strict ANC.

Battery and charging

The Special rates 8–10 hours per charge and up to 5 nights with its 800 mAh case; the standard A30 rates 9 h per charge and 45 h with the case. soundcore’s lab scenarios at 50% volume: 7 h with Bluetooth and ANC on, 9 h with local audio and ANC on, 16 h with local audio and ANC off, and 10 h with the default auto-switch. The case recharges the earbuds 4 times and takes 120 minutes to charge; a full earbud charge takes about 90 minutes. PCMag finished a nine-hour night with battery left for the alarm, and 2 hours of podcasts consumed roughly one quarter of the bud battery. Charging is USB-C wired only — no wireless charging and no fast charging.

App, calls and missing features

The soundcore app is close to essential: it carries the sound library, sleep behavior customization, the snore-monitoring toggle, alarms and auto-shutoff. Sleep tracking requires a soundcore account; most other features work without one. The sleep-detection auto-switch is fiddly. Calls go over a single mic, and PCMag found call quality just so-so, with the mic failing to activate for test recordings on Windows or Android.

Is it worth it?

At $168.99 on sale at soundcore.com in October 2026, the Sleep A30 is a strong buy for side sleepers who need noise and snoring management in an ultra-low-profile bud; Tom’s Guide listed $168.99 at Target in October 2025. At the $199.99 MSRP that soundcore.com lists, it stays reasonable for significant sleep disruption, though general-purpose ANC earbuds with better sound exist at similar prices. Above $220 the value drops sharply: Tom’s Guide listed a $229 list price and $229.99 at Newegg, and PCMag tested them at $229.95 in February 2026. There is no direct competitor with this combination of sleep features at this size, which is the main argument for paying the premium. There are no subscription fees; the only recurring cost is optional replacement ear tips and wings from soundcore. Do not buy it as a general-purpose music earbud at any price.

Which model this is

This page covers the soundcore Sleep A30 line, model D1301: the Sleep A30 in Moonlit White and Mist Green, and the Sleep A30 Special in Mist Lilac and Lunar White. The Special adds adaptive snore-masking, Calm sleep stories and one extra hour of battery. Do not confuse it with the earlier Sleep A20, which has no ANC, or with general-purpose soundcore earbuds.
