Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

Budget wireless earbuds with adaptive noise cancellation, transparency mode, multipoint, app EQ and a charging case that unfolds into a phone stand, with up to 10 hours per charge. Test both buds and the case during the return window: the recurring owner complaint across 2025–2026 is charging failures, not sound quality.

Strengths

  • Feature density is unusual at this price: adaptive ANC, transparency, multipoint, app EQ, Bluetooth 5.4 and IP54 earbuds.
  • Battery life is strong even with ANC on: 7 h per charge and 30 h with the case, per the manual.
  • The case doubles as a phone stand, which earns its place instead of duplicating a separate accessory.
  • Bass-forward tuning plus 22 EQ presets give you both impact and a route to calmer sound.
  • The 18-month warranty outlasts many retailers’ basic return windows.

Weaknesses

  • SBC and AAC are the only codecs; no LDAC or aptX.
  • No wireless charging.
  • Recurring owner reports describe charging cases that stop accepting charge or a single bud refusing to charge.
  • The “up to 42 dB” ANC figure is a marketing maximum, not a measured curve.
  • The default tuning is repeatedly described as bass-heavy or boomy; neutral listeners will live in the EQ.
  • The IP54 rating stops at the earbuds, so the case is not protected from sweat or rain.

Noise and sound

Adaptive ANC is the headline, and Soundcore’s own number is “up to 42 dB” — a manufacturer claim with no exact-model lab measurement behind it. No instrumented review from a major testing lab was found for this model, and RTINGS’ site search returns no P30i entry, so treat owner comments as the best available evidence: good for the price class against low rumble, weaker against voices and high-frequency noise. One spec conflict to know about: B&H’s table says multipoint is not supported, while Soundcore’s and Anker’s own material say it is. The manufacturer documentation is the better bet, but confirm the feature in the app after pairing.

Battery and charging

The manual rates the buds at 10 hours per charge and 45 hours with the case, dropping to 7 and 30 with ANC on. A 10-minute top-up is rated for about two hours of listening. Charging is USB-C only, about an hour for the buds and two and a half for the case. The battery is not a user-replaceable part, and there is no wireless charging. Keep the charging contacts clean: contamination there can mimic exactly the charging fault owners complain about.

Reliability and the charging caveat

The failure pattern worth knowing about is charging. Across independent owner threads, people describe cases that stop holding or delivering charge and individual buds that stop charging inside the case; one thread started in January 2025 kept collecting matching reports well into 2026. Other owners say a warranty replacement solved it, which points at unit-level quality control rather than a design flaw — but nobody has published a failure rate, so treat it as a known risk rather than a rare event. Test both buds, the case, ANC and multipoint as soon as they arrive, and keep proof of purchase: the warranty is 18 months, tied to the country of purchase, and unauthorized marketplace sellers can complicate a claim.

Is it worth it?

Buy it on sale. Soundcore’s own store listed the P30i at $49.99 in September 2026, with coupons that took the black pair near $25 and other colors near $33, and the same model has sold around $25–$33 at mainstream US retailers, so the feature list is hard to argue with at those prices and easy to overpay for at the full list price.

Which model this is

This page covers the Soundcore P30i, hardware model A3959, also sold as the R50i NC in some regions and in black, white, sky blue and green color variants. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0CRTYZG5C. Don’t confuse it with the P40i, Life P3i or P20i, which have different battery, ANC and microphone specs.
