Summary
A four-spool filament dryer box for multicolor and multi-printer setups that dries while printing through four PTFE feed-throughs. Check your materials before you buy: the target is fixed at 50 °C, and PETG, ABS and nylon want more heat than the 45 °C to 55 °C control band allows.
Strengths
- Four spools in one heated enclosure suits multicolor and multi-printer workflows.
- Four PTFE feed-throughs let it dry while up to four printers pull filament.
- Heating is quick for a shared chamber: 50 °C in about 13 minutes.
- A single knob selects up to two hours or continuous drying, with no menu.
- The manual lists a broad material range including PLA, PETG and TPU.
- Sovol’s cheaper SH02 is well regarded as a budget dryer.
Weaknesses
- The target is fixed at 50 °C with no way to raise it, cycling only between 45 °C and 55 °C.
- Sovol recommends 65 °C for PETG and ABS and 75 °C for nylon and PC, all above that ceiling.
- All four spools share one temperature zone, so mixed materials cannot run on separate settings.
- The timer stops at two hours; longer drying means continuous mode and manual shutdown.
- No independent lab test of drying rate, temperature uniformity, noise or energy use exists.
- Availability is poor: Sovol’s dryer collection lists the SH01, SH02 and SH03 but not the SH04, and a US listing is sold out.

Drying and printing at the same time
Four PTFE feed-throughs set this box apart from dryers that only store spools. Printing while drying is only possible on a dryer with a feed port, so the four outputs let up to four printers pull filament straight from the heated chamber. Heating is quick for a shared box, with Sovol claiming 25 °C to 50 °C in about 13 minutes from a 20 °C room, and a single knob sets up to 120 minutes or continuous Stay On.
Temperature limits and materials
Sovol fixes the target at 50 °C and lets the control cycle between 45 °C and 55 °C, with no way to raise it. That ceiling misses the materials many buyers care about: Sovol’s drying table recommends 65 °C for PETG and ABS and 75 °C for nylon and PC. The manual’s own list, PLA, PLA+, PETG, ABS, TPU, Wood, PVA, PVB, HIPS and PMMA, reads broader than the temperature band can serve, and all four spools share the one zone. Treat the SH04 as a PLA-and-PETG box, not a nylon dryer.
Owner reports and repairs
Owner evidence for this exact model is thin but not absent. A February 2025 owner described a loud unit with a bent fan, and Sovol walked them through troubleshooting before sending a replacement fan; the repair took substantial disassembly, so the fan is not an external user part. A July 2026 owner wished the box could run about 10 °C hotter, while owners in June 2026 and January 2026 reported printing directly from the box and calling it the best dryer they had used. Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat the fan as a service item rather than a known defect.
Running costs and parts
There is no subscription and no routine proprietary consumable; electricity and the four included PTFE tubes are the whole story. At the 690 W maximum, two hours at full draw is 1.38 kWh, roughly $0.21 to $0.48 at an illustrative $0.15 to $0.35/kWh. Six hours a week at that ceiling would be about 215 kWh a year, or roughly $32 to $75, and real draw should fall once the thermostat cycles within the 45 °C to 55 °C band. Sovol lists no public part numbers or prices for the fan, adapter, rollers or heating bars, so a repair depends on support rather than a parts page.
Is it worth it?
Value depends on the price and on how much a fixed 50 °C target costs you. ElectroEShop listed the SH04 at $88.14 but sold out, and Sovol’s newer SH03 sells direct at $109 with two independent chambers and an 85 °C ceiling, which makes the older box hard to justify at full price. Roughly: at $65 or less it is a good buy, $66 to $80 is fair, $81 to $90 is weak, and above $90 skip it unless the exact four-spool form factor is the whole point. For comparison, the SUNLU S4 sells direct at $116.99 and reaches 70 °C, while the Creality SpacePi X4 is $159 and reaches 85 °C.
Which model this is
This page covers the Sovol SH04 four-spool filament dryer box. The reference listing is ASIN B0F2HJ4KLP, but the only SH04 user manual indexed under an ASIN is filed under B0DK3LGPK4, so treat those as two listings for the same model until Sovol says otherwise. Do not merge the SH04 with the SH01, SH02 or SH03, which are separate Sovol dryers.
