Summary
A budget 12-cup drip brewer with a 24-hour timer, regular and strong settings, a reusable filter and a glass carafe. Consumer Reports tested it and found the brew fell short of 195°F held for five or six minutes, so buy it for scheduled coffee rather than for hot, well-extracted coffee.
Strengths
- The reusable filter ends paper-filter buying and is the most common reason owners give for buying.
- 24-hour programming and regular/strong settings at a budget price.
- Compact and light for a 12-cup machine.
- Owners say the strong setting makes a real difference.
- The clock and auto-brew can be set without reading the manual.
- A green light prompts descaling, and the manual spells out a four-times-a-year vinegar routine.
Weaknesses
- Consumer Reports’ lab test found the brew fell short of 195°F held for five or six minutes.
- The warming plate’s black coating cracks, peels or flakes into the carafe, owners report within months to a year, and no replacement plate is sold.
- The carafe drips down the cup unless you pour very slowly; one owner reports cracking in under two months.
- The reservoir does not come out and is awkward to fill without spilling.
- Three owners report a machine that powers on but will not brew, and no source gives a failure rate.
- Support is hard to reach; the manual lists only a corporate address in Delaware.

Brewing and daily use
For a machine this cheap, the useful parts are the basics: set the timer the night before, choose regular or strong, and let the reusable basket filter do the work. Consumer Reports confirms the programmable timer, brew-strength control, keep-warm and drip stop, and it confirms the reservoir does not come out and there is no small-batch setting. The 12-cup label overstates the pot: the manual says 1.8 L and Consumer Reports measured 62 oz, so a full brew is closer to five mugs than twelve.
The warming plate and the carafe
Two wear points show up again and again in owner reports, and neither part is sold on its own. The first is the warming plate: four separate owners describe its black coating cracking, peeling or flaking off into the carafe over about two months to a year, and two say they have never seen this in any other coffee maker. A fifth owner wipes the plate after every brew to stop it rusting. The second is the carafe: at least seven owners say coffee runs down the side of the cup or mug on the pour unless they go very slowly, and one reports the pot cracking in under two months. Consumer Reports rated the carafe fairly easy to handle in its controlled test, so treat the drip as a daily-use complaint rather than a lab finding. No replacement plate or official replacement carafe was found.
Maintenance and descaling
The manual is short and specific. Descale four times a year: two tablespoons of white vinegar solution in the water chamber, run the CLEAN cycle, then refill with cold water and run two more brew cycles with water only. The green light flashes after 60 brews as the prompt. Only the carafe and the removable filter basket go in the dishwasher, top rack; never immerse the body or the warming plate. Do not clean inside the water chamber with a cloth, because the lint can clog the machine. The manual also says not to reuse ground beans and not to reheat brewed coffee.
Warranty and support
The manual states a 1-year warranty, and one owner reports being told 2 years at purchase, so get the term in writing. Taylor Swoden is Taylortech Inc of Lewes, Delaware, the unit is made in China, and no parts catalogue, replacement carafe or service channel was found. Three owners report being unable to reach any customer service. Consumer Reports surveyed 27,742 automatic drip makers bought from 2017 to 2025 and has insufficient data on the brand to rate reliability or owner satisfaction, so there is no honest failure rate for this machine.
Is it worth it?
At roughly $30 to $50 the scheduling and the reusable filter are the whole case, and the plate and the carafe can be treated as consumables. A US retailer listed it at $30.79, marked down from $43.99, and Consumer Reports recorded $44.99 and $49.99 in its price modules. Above about $50 the measured temperature shortfall, the missing parts channel and the absent reliability record make it hard to justify over a named-brand 12-cup programmable. Descale on schedule; mineral buildup slows the brew and adds noise.
