Summary

A 3-inch Tempur memory foam topper with a phase-change cooling cover, aimed at side sleepers and hot sleepers who want the brand’s deep, slow-sinking feel without the heat of the standard version. It carries a 10-year warranty but no sleep trial and no returns, so be sure you like the Tempur-Pedic feel before you order.

Strengths

  • Deep pressure relief that suits side sleepers with shoulder and hip pain.
  • The phase-change cover dissipates heat better than the standard Adapt topper.
  • Motion isolation keeps one partner’s movement from disturbing the other.
  • Dense TEMPUR foam resists sagging, backed by a 10-year warranty.
  • A removable, machine-washable cover and corner straps that hold it in place.

Weaknesses

  • No sleep trial and no returns: every sale is final.
  • The deep, quicksand-like sink is polarizing; some sleepers feel stuck.
  • Slow to respond, so combination sleepers may struggle to change position.
  • Some stomach sleepers sink too deep at the hips, risking lower back misalignment.
  • Cooling is passive and will not feel like an actively cooled surface.
  • High price next to cooler or returnable rivals.

Cooling: what it does and does not do

The cover is a cool-to-the-touch performance fabric woven with phase-change material, which absorbs and releases heat on contact. Tom’s Guide testers slept on it for two weeks and reported sleeping cool and dry, a clear improvement over the standard Adapt topper, which retained heat. Sleep Foundation scored it 8.6/10 in its cooling category and rated the phase-change cover effective at dissipating heat. It is still passive cooling: it will not feel like an air-conditioned surface, and it is not as cool as active systems such as the Helix GlacioTex or the Tempur-Breeze mattresses.

Sink, pressure relief and who it suits

The 3-inch TEMPUR foam conforms closely and gives strong pressure relief, which testers rate highly for side sleepers. Sleep Foundation found it best for side sleepers up to 230 lbs and back sleepers under 130 lbs. The flip side is the slow, quicksand-like sink: Wirecutter’s testers either loved it or hated it, and combination sleepers may find it hard to roll over. Some stomach sleepers sink too far at the hips.

Care, warranty and returns

The 10-year limited warranty covers physical flaws that split or crack the material and cell-structure deterioration that stops it returning to shape. The cover removes and machine-washes in cold water; air drying is preferred and a cool dryer setting is acceptable. Spot-clean the foam core only, and do not flip or rotate the topper. Tempur-Pedic says any off-gassing smell usually fades within a week or two. There are no user-serviceable parts and the foam is not repairable. The catch is the policy: all toppers are final sale, with no sleep trial or returns.

Is it worth it?

Tempur-Pedic lists the King version at about $469–519, and the standard Adapt Queen at $359, with the cooling cover adding about $80. Below $400 the mix of pressure relief, cooling and a 10-year warranty is strong value; between $400 and $470 it is fair given the no-return policy; above $470 it is hard to justify unless you already know you like the Tempur-Pedic feel. Helix’s GlacioTex topper at $349 and Saatva’s Graphite at $305 include sleep trials.

Which model this is

This page covers the TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling 3-inch topper in King size, the cooling-upgraded version of the standard TEMPUR-Adapt Topper. It uses the same 3-inch TEMPUR foam but swaps the knit cover for a phase-change cooling fabric. The listing for this page is ASIN B07V5K36FL.

Do not confuse it with the 2-inch TEMPUR-Cloud topper, the TEMPUR-Breeze mattress line, or the standard non-cooling TEMPUR-Adapt topper.
