Summary
A small, rugged 360-degree Bluetooth speaker with IP67 protection, a 5 ft drop rating and USB-C charging, built for showers, kitchens, tents and beach blankets. Buy it for its durability and vocal balance, not for volume: independent tests measured it at roughly 83–84 dB, and it has no app, no EQ and no PartyUp chaining.
Strengths
- Wirecutter dropped it from 5 ft onto deck and concrete; it kept playing with a couple of small scuffs.
- Wirecutter’s brand-concealed listening panels rank its clear, naturally balanced sound above the competition.
- GearLab reports years of camping use, repeated water exposure and no connectivity or sound problems.
- IP67 and floatability make it safe for pools, boats and beach use.
- Two units pair for true stereo, and multipoint connects two source devices.
- USB-C charging, three hardware EQ modes and no app to maintain.
Weaknesses
- Loudness is limited: measured about 83–84 dB, below the box rating, with distortion above mid volume.
- No app, no user EQ and no PartyUp chaining; stereo pairing works only with another Wonderboom 4.
- Battery tests disagree widely — 11 hours and 21 h 8 min measured against a 14-hour claim.
- The top-panel buttons are mushy and unlabeled, and there is no previous-track control.
- No speakerphone and no aux input, so it cannot serve as a small-room PC speaker.
- Not user-repairable: the battery is not intended for owner replacement and Logitech lists no spare parts.

Sound and volume
Independent testing agrees on character and disagrees on battery. Wirecutter’s measurements put the Wonderboom 4 at 84.0 dB maximum at 1 meter, with Outdoor Boost adding roughly 3 dB at the cost of bass, and its blind panels rank the speaker’s balance above the competition. GearLab measured 83.9 dB, found distortion above mid volume and called the bass, mid-range and treble sub-scores weak against its group; Consumer Reports found decent but non-extending bass, a congested mid-range and sizzly treble. Wirecutter measures its own upgrade pick as about 8 dB louder for similar money. The practical read: vocals and acoustic material sound clear and low-fatigue, but this is a bedroom, kitchen, tent or beach unit, not a yard speaker.
Battery life
The 14-hour figure is a manufacturer ceiling, not a typical result. Wirecutter got 11 hours in its fixed 75 dB test, while GearLab got 21 hours 8 minutes on its own protocol. Because the two labs test differently, neither number should be presented as the battery life. Charging is USB-C and takes roughly 2.5–3 hours on an adequate adapter, though much longer on a weak one and longer still while music plays. No power adapter ships in the box, so a buyer without a USB-C wall charger must add one. Logitech warns that a wet or contaminated USB-C connector can overheat or melt, so charge through a clean, dry port.
Features and software
The absence of an app is the most misrepresented part of this speaker. Logitech’s own support sheet lists apps as not applicable, and GearLab, TechRadar and Tom’s Guide all confirm there is no graphic EQ and no app-based control. That contrasts with the Boom 4 in the same lineup, which offers a custom EQ and PartyUp. Stereo pairing here is narrower than it sounds: two Wonderboom 4 units can be doubled or split into true left/right stereo, but the speaker does not pair with Wonderboom 1/2/3, Boom, Megaboom or Hyperboom. There is no microphone or speakerphone and no aux input, and double-pressing the center button skips forward only — there is no way to skip back. One owner-level caution: an r/logitech user reports a loud, unadjustable startup sound with sensitive hearing.
Durability
Ruggedness is where the model earns its reputation with evidence rather than marketing. Wirecutter dropped it from 5 feet onto a deck and then onto concrete, and it kept playing with two small scuff marks; GearLab reports multiple camping trips across several states and repeated water exposure with no degradation. IP67 covers dust and immersion to 1 m for 30 minutes, and the speaker floats. The flip side is low repairability: the 2100 mAh pack is not intended for user replacement, Logitech lists no spare parts and there is no teardown, so a battery failure is a service-only event. Warranty length is unresolved in the sources — retailers list one or two years — so confirm it at purchase.
Is it worth it?
At the $99.99 launch list price the trade is hard to justify, because larger and louder speakers sit at the same money. At $69.99–$79.99 it is well matched to the job: Ultimate Ears direct listed $79.99 with a 30-day free return, Dell listed $79.99 or $69.99 by color, and B&H listed $69.99 (all 2026-10-03). If you need volume for a shared outdoor space, spend the money on a larger speaker instead. Check the store panel above for current prices.
Which model this is
This page covers the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4, model number SR0192, announced 26 June 2024. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0BRXJ9WTD. It is the first Wonderboom with USB-C, which is the fastest visual way to tell it apart from the micro-USB Wonderboom 1/2/3; owner discussion agrees USB-C is the only substantive change over the Wonderboom 3. Do not merge it with the Miniroll, Boom 4 or Megaboom 4. US retail colors are Active Black, Cobalt Blue, Hyper Pink and Joyous Bright. One r/logitech report describes a delivery that arrived without a USB-C cable, which contradicts the documented in-box cable and is safest treated as a fulfillment variance.
