Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A big countertop vacuum sealer with dual pumps, a claimed 90 kPa vacuum, true double sealing, an 11.8-inch bag width and a hose for canisters, sold with starter rolls, pre-cut bags, a spare gasket and sealing tape. Buy it on promotion and test it hard during the return window: the manual calls for about a minute of cooling between bags despite the continuous-sealing marketing, and the warranty is one year.

Strengths

  • Dual pumps with claimed 20 L/min airflow move air out of canisters and large bags faster than single-pump budget sealers.
  • True double sealing shows up in VEVOR’s own title, graphics and retailer listings, not just marketplace wording.
  • The control set covers real cases: Gentle for fragile foods, Moist for wet ones, Pulse for manual control, plus a marinate cycle.
  • The locking handle makes bag positioning easy, and owners repeatedly praise simple operation.
  • A spare foam gasket and sealing tape are included, and the manual shows how to replace both by hand.
  • It takes standard textured bags, so there is no proprietary consumable to keep paying for.

Weaknesses

  • The storefront promises continuous sealing, but the manual says to cool the machine for about one minute between bags and blocks a new seal for 15 seconds.
  • The warranty is one year, and VEVOR’s own Q&A says extra foam gaskets are not normally sold for this model.
  • No independent lab has measured the vacuum depth, airflow or noise; the 90 kPa and 20 L/min figures remain claims.
  • The roll bay caps out around 20 ft, so economical bulk rolls live outside the machine.
  • The 16-inch-wide body eats counter space next to compact sealers.
  • Beyond gaskets and tape there is no real parts catalog; a failed pump or control board after year one is a replace-the-machine decision.

Duty cycle: what the manual really says

This is the gap between the sales page and the machine. The marketing leans on the cooling system for continuous repetitive sealing; the exact-model manual says to let it cool for about one minute before sealing again, warns against sealing continuously, enforces a 15-second lockout after each seal, and tells you to stop if the sealing element gets hot enough to melt a bag. None of that makes it a bad sealer — it just puts it in the right category: a capable home and batch machine, not commercial continuous-duty equipment. The manual also says to store the unit flat with the lid unlocked, because a locked lid slowly compresses the foam gaskets until they leak.

Canisters, bags and rolls

Canister mode is a real function: the hose connects to a canister lid, the machine stops on its own when the vacuum is reached, and the manual says to press the lid or adapter down for the first few seconds to prevent a leak. Wipe moisture out of the adapter after wet foods. The machine needs embossed channel bags — smooth chamber-vacuum pouches will not work — but the bags themselves are generic, and VEVOR’s own Q&A confirms universal textured bags seal fine. An 8-inch roll covers normal portions, an 11-inch roll covers bigger cuts, and cheap bulk rolls work well even though they do not fit the internal bay.

Gaskets, tape and repairability

The foam gaskets are the wear part, and they are genuinely user-serviceable: pull the old one from its groove, press the new one in. One owner’s account is instructive — the machine stopped pulling vacuum, swapping in the supplied spare lower gasket restored it, and the owner measured the foam at about 7 mm wide by 5 mm thick as a lead for generic stock. The high-temperature sealing-bar tape is a common consumable that is easy to find in generic form. Everything past those consumables is thin: VEVOR lists no retail parts for the pumps, control board, handle or heating element. The same VS5164 hardware is sold under SKYSHALO, KFFKFF and Mecale, which may improve the odds of donor parts and generic consumables over time — but their warranties and reviews are not VEVOR’s.

Is it worth it?

Home Depot listed it at $64.99 on September 27, 2026, with a 90-day return window, while VEVOR’s own page showed about $89.90, a Best Buy marketplace listing about $85.41 and TikTok Shop $94.90. At $65 or less it is excellent hardware-per-dollar; $65–80 stays strong; $80–95 is fair-to-strong; $95–110 is fair and above $110 it is weak unless a cheap multi-year retailer protection plan or unusual availability justifies it. Near its regular direct price the case weakens: the performance numbers are unverified and the support picture depends on consumables you supply yourself. Keep the spare gasket and tape untouched until you need them.

Which model this is

This page covers the VEVOR VS5164, the 130 W / 90 kPa dual-pump machine with 11.8-inch sealing — not the larger 350 W VS5425 or the 120 W compact variants. The US listing is ASIN B0CBBNTVFT, UPC 840349924731, 16 × 7.9 × 6.3 in and 7.1 lb; a later manual record ties the model to a different UPC and 9.06 lb, so check the box if the exact weight matters to you.
